In an interview with MSNBC, Breitbart senior editor Joel Pollak has made clear that Donald Trump can't take his website's support for granted.
"If he pulls an Arnold Schwarzenegger and tries to reinvent himself as a liberal, he will see that support erode very, very quickly, and he will struggle politically, I think, to make the case for reelection in 2020," Pollak made the comments after it was announced that former (and now current) Breitbart.com chief Steve Bannon was removed from his position as Trump's Chief Strategist.

There can be little doubt that Pollak is right. From old-school conservatives who demanded a candidate with the balls to say what nobody else dared say, to the 'alt-right', and to Democrats who simply detest the Clintons - all passionately supported Trump last year, but they did so because they thought he truly was an outsider; a man who refused to play the usual establishment games and who would stick to his guns no matter what. If he now governs like, say, Gary Cohn would, well, let's just say that these voters aren't the type of people who'll put up with that. The primary reason they supported Trump is that they felt betrayed by the establishment.

I want to see how this Bannon situation plays out. It’s possible he can’t say or do what he’s best at from within the WH. I hope he comes up with forceful research and reporting at Breibart so the never-Trumpers don’t own every story.
I have no idea who this asshole or thinks he is but he is full of shit
You make all the points I was going to, thanks.
If conservatives in America cannot get our agenda at least partially implemented with a fearless president who takes no prisoners and tries to actually keep (most of) his promises, and with (technically) control of both houses of Congress it ain’t happening, at all, ever.
As long as he keeps reaching out to his base at rallies he’ll be fine.
As everyone knows, I was vehemently anti-Trump during the primary. But Trump (even at his worse) has never been an outspoken cheerleader for leftist causes like Ahnuld was. He's more of a populist.
Schwartzendruber’s mistake was marrying a Kennedy. I often mumbled to myself, “Arny, WTH were you thinking?!” One possible reason for it is that in his heart of hearts he always WAS a commie lib. Leopards can’t change their spots that easily.
He needs to more than reach out. He needs to call his base out into the streets and to surround the Congress. He has no support from the Republicrats and both parties are working to undermine and stop him. His strength is the people. McConnell, Ryan and their ilk need to see torches and pitchforks outside their windows to drive the message home. If Trump doesn’t break out of the barricades that are being erected against him, his agenda will not happen and he and the GOPe will go down in 2018 and 2020. If Trump cannot reform the US, then there will be no solution within the system.
Yup, the most conservative president since Reagan.
“As long as he keeps reaching out to his base at rallies hell be fine.”
Tuesday should tell us a lot. If he pushes for the wall we are probably fine. To me the wall is the defining philosophical issue. If he re-commits to it he is probably still with us. If he doesn’t mention it, look out.
Arnold did not have a Base like Trump does. The premise is laughable.
He was the guy who wasn’t like the others, at least when it came to Fiscal Conservatism. This was the CA Race, not National Office.
Tom McClintock would have been the guy, but his chances for Election for Governor would have been near zero if he was the eventual GOP Candidate. Like I said, it’s CA. Reagan would never get Elected Governor in this day and age.
I honestly don’t know what everybody here is going on about. How does President Trump morph into Arnold Schwarzenegger? How is that possible? Some freepers live in a fantasy world.
Schwarzenegger was always a liberal.
He didn’t re-invent himself.
There were signs yesterday bannon would ..or might.. go after trump administration.
Too soon to tell..but this is an opening salvo.
He has hired a lot of social libs..including his family.
.
I really hope mcmaster gets exposed. But he has got the NSA on his side. Could be dangerous
Its not.
One of his former employees that had been with him for years said he didnt like to fire people.rarely did it. Just made their life living hell until they quit.
Exactly. Many of US are turning into butter-flakes. Have some patience, people.
What happens if Trump inadvertently turns himself into a D cell battery.
Article has great insight. /s
Didn’t the muscle bound prick ban 50’s in cauliflowernia?
I’m going to watch preditor today in honor of Billy. Gping to skip all the Schwarzenegger dialog.
“I really hope mcmaster gets exposed”
Right, I am more the a little bothered by who is left standing. They could easily be part of a Hillary Admin. McMaster was exposed in view but it meant nothing and Bannon is gone instead. Miller and Gorka are still there but they are more messaging then policy making. We will need to watch Tuesday’s speech closely. I’m telling you if he does not mention the wall these liberals have tossed the agenda.
I think he goes after admin...but spins it that its not trump..its the trump admin.
Drudge will be on his list too.
Its really too soon to think trump has been forced into a handler situation...but mcmaster just makes no sense to me
