Photobucket pulls third party hosting/linking
N/A

Looks like Photobucket is pulling its third party hosting/linking service unless you opt for a premium plan... at $400/ year.
I had an email this morning saying such. So much for their "free" service.
Have not tried, but I assume I still have access to my photos. Never did put much up there, just an occasional photo that I could not link to for various reasons.

Used them for years, but the website got to be so convoluted that it was difficult to use.
Several months ago, they were bombarding me with emails — a couple per day — trying to sell things.
It is probably expensive for them to host images.

I’ve got quite a bit on the Bucket because it was a convenient way to share with specific people or groups without cluttering up my other feeds. But it will not be missed - their user interface has always sucked but they’ve made it even worse, and the business model of (I guess) supporting free users by push-marketing sh!tty products like photo albums or printed crap isn’t going to work on me at least.
I have used Shutterfly for a couple of local groups, their thinking being that if they allow free preformated website hosting for teams, groups, etc who put all their photos on the site they will buy the same kind of sh!tty products.
Facebook and Google have probably made both unnecessary.

I use Imageevent premium for under $30 a year. It’s an excellent photo/video hosting site.

I found that out this morning after I tried to link a photo on FR from a Photobucket link last night. It showed up fine when I checked the preview a couple of times, but then discovered this morning when I checked my Pings, that all that was showing in my comment was their stupid notice about not allowing 3rd party hosting unless the account is upgraded.

Bad thing about tinipic is that it is owned and operated by photobucket.
