So you can’t link to Photobucket from another site?

Used them for years, but the website got to be so convoluted that it was difficult to use.

Several months ago, they were bombarding me with emails — a couple per day — trying to sell things.

It is probably expensive for them to host images.

I’ve got quite a bit on the Bucket because it was a convenient way to share with specific people or groups without cluttering up my other feeds. But it will not be missed - their user interface has always sucked but they’ve made it even worse, and the business model of (I guess) supporting free users by push-marketing sh!tty products like photo albums or printed crap isn’t going to work on me at least.

I have used Shutterfly for a couple of local groups, their thinking being that if they allow free preformated website hosting for teams, groups, etc who put all their photos on the site they will buy the same kind of sh!tty products.

Facebook and Google have probably made both unnecessary.

I use Imageevent premium for under $30 a year. It’s an excellent photo/video hosting site.

I found that out this morning after I tried to link a photo on FR from a Photobucket link last night. It showed up fine when I checked the preview a couple of times, but then discovered this morning when I checked my Pings, that all that was showing in my comment was their stupid notice about not allowing 3rd party hosting unless the account is upgraded.

It seems they are limiting the bandwidth on sharing a photo. I can link a photo from my account. If it gets shared and linked then they stop it. I noticed that PB did that to a FReeper who has a ping list and uses a photo on the ping. Now it says he’s used up his bandwidth.

There are more sites out there than PB.

I'm not going to start on a new site. HOWEVER, in case photobucket is going to fold, I'd hate to see this image disappear so anyuone one who wants to keep it alive, feel free.

Going with Google for now. One thing I am doing is setting up all my folders on my computer just in case they pull the same thing later on. (Mirror Image)

The problem I have now is, because I didn’t do that earlier, I have to download all my stuff from Photobucket. They have a “Download Album” button but it hasn’t worked for me, but I can download one at a time - about 300 photos.
