The sun is set to 'change form' as NASA says solar minimum is on the way

The sun is heading into a period known as solar minimum, during which activity at the surface will ‘change form.’
In this time, certain types of activity, such as sunspots and solar flares will drop – but, it’s also expected to bring the development of long-lived phenomena including coronal holes.

According to NASA, solar minimum could also enhance the effects of space weather, potentially disrupting communications and navigation systems, and even causing space junk to ‘hang around.’

Climate Change: “the weather”.

Good excuse for fascist tyranny, wouldn’t you say?

We can prevent the Ice Age by quadrupling CO2.

First step: burn the windmills.

Can’t they just fly to Mars at night when the Sun isn’t out?

Yes.

Only this time we’re going to freeze to death.

It’s hard keeping track of what I’m currently supposed to be afraid will kill me. Is it the higher temperature, the lower temperature, drowning from the rise in sea levels?

As soon as one boogieman stops frightening the population (because we’ve heard about it ad nauseam and it has become part of the background drone of the newsreaders), the government finds a new one to replace it.

Part of an 11 yr. long cycle- may affect navigation and communications at its height.

That doesn't sound like real science. I have it on the best authority (Nobel Prize winner Al Gore) that the sun does not affect the earth's temperature, only the little people using SUVs and other luxuries reserved for the elites can do that. If the sun can't affect global temperatures, how can it affect communications?

Unless something can be developed that can ward off the onslaught of radiation, etc., but is light enough that the rocket can lift off and gain the proper speeds.

Or capture and store the energy as a power source.

Solar minimum, meaning a cooling sun.

So, will it be cool enough to send a manned-mission to land there? I propose we man that mission with all liberals, since they claim to be better at science and that the sun is not the main cause of our climate. Let them report back their findings, while we’re freezing to death back on Earth.

I’m very new at learning about ham radio, but here’s an article from the ARRL regarding interaction between the Sun and Earth. (I don’t know the date of this - it drives me nuts that so many articles that I find on the Internet aren’t dated - or I just don’t know how to find the date :-(

http://www.arrl.org/here-comes-the-sun

(I recall some years ago when we had a lot of flare activity, some modes of communication kept breaking up, which might suggest that ‘quiet is better’ - but it’s apparently much more complex than that...)

I am sure there are technological barriers but I’ve always thought that portable ship’s magnetic field generator (perhaps assembled in orbit) would help shield a crew from solar particles and radition...much the same as Earth’s does.

I just picked up an Ameritron 811 from a silent key auction for the same reason. Tubes are barely broke in.
