Yes, I am logged in. Normally on iPad I can finger scroll up the writing box to see what I am writing as I write it. Now, for the past two days I cannot see what I am writing.
I don't believe this is an FR issue, as it is happening on text conversations with otherse. As with Free Republic, I have to click the button to lower the keyboardscreeni order to see what I am writing.
Editing is impossible.
Anyone have any help?
You do know that strategically laid chemtrails cut off your posts from most of the world?
As soon as the line up there fades, you know where it is, don’t you? In our nostrils, heading straight for our brains!! Good thing I have made a tinfoil goalie helmet. It’s the only way.
Not getting the context.
Look at my previous post. Someone helped - you toggle off and then back on the Word Wrap button. No idea what that is but it worked.
I’m sorry, but my suggestion was for Sauropod, who said that he has an Android. I have no experience with tablets.
But — who knows?— perhaps it will work for you, too.
On my phone it has ONLY ever been this way. You cannot see what you post. I hate freeping on the phone. Wish there was an app. I expect it on the phone, sadly. And the return button is too close to the space bar so I hit it accidentally. I don’t know how man do it on the iPhone with bigger fingers than mine.
Was going to try switching to portrait but tried the suggestion with the word wrap toggle first. It worked! Toggling off and then right back on.
So glad you got it straightened out. FReepers are the best! So many smart, helpful people here.
No problem here. Lenovo desktop work station, Win 7, Slim Jet browser.
Nope, it stopped working again. It’s better, but I can’t see the whole box to edit, even if I toggle.
Yes, I can change to portrait, but everything is so much smaller and it just sucks.
Bleahh.
It stopped working or it doesn’t show the entire box. Grrrr.
But yes, FReepers are the best.
I just wish there were an effort to have FR work easily on mobile devices.
I have played with the keyboard button (the one that makes it disappear) itself to find some help from pressing down on it for a few seconds and hitting the option Split (giving you a teensy split keyboard). Then hit the option Merge (not Merge and Dock). I will keep trying this. I hate this problem; it doesn’t allow for posting or texting and correcting what you write or even seeing what you write.
Doh! Good find by Gideon7. Word Wrap, I think it flows a sentence without hard carriage returns to fit the screen. Don't know why it's a possible issue with Java but will look out for this on the iPad if it happens.
Perhaps many would wish that I couldn't post from any device whatsoever, but that is a separate issue :-)
Hesitation and hang on Win 7 on two machines, android phone, win 10. All behave the same way. FR can be slow to load too. Maybe because the feds are snooping the net.
Haven’t tried ubuntu yet.
I’m posting this on my iPad Pro with the latest updates loaded. I have no problems with editing, scrolling, selecting, or cutting and pasting text in the edit screen. Have you done a hard restart of your iPad recently? The few times I’ve had such a problem in Safari, either restarting Safari or the entire iPad solves the problem. . . and doing the hard restart is best as it flushes the RAM.
How would one perform this “hard restart” of which ye speaketh? And are there any potential problems that this may cause? iPad here.
Hold the power button and the home button for 10 to 15 seconds until the screen goes blank. Then restart with the power button only. This clears the RAM and the forces a cold shut down. If you hold it for only a second it takes a screen shot.
No, no problems or issues to do it. It’s something one should do from time to time just to clear junk that builds up in RAM.
Thanks. I just cleared the junk that built up in my RAM. Amazing that I stayed logged in to FR through that reset. However, I did have to redo my Apple ID and password.
Safari may be enchroaching on your screens available workspace. Try going into safari settings and toggling off “show favorites bar” and “show tab bar” to get back an inch of screen.
Otherwise, can’t you enlarge the reply box by spreading it open with two fingers?
