Read what you want. I am sick of the Trump bashing. What he did tonight was necessary and patriotic. Sorry if you disagree. He is the best President we have ever had. Did you want him to sit back like Obama the weakling? I don’t. I want Trump to kick ass all over the World if necessary. What I don’t want is to be in the country for decades like the disaster Bush made. Get in, get out. That is what Trump did tonight. Are we done? No. We may have to bomb the hell out of them more, but I support it. I’d like to make the Middle East an ice skating rink quite frankly. I don’t get why you are so upset about this? I know you were one who was laughing at Obama for not living up to his red line (I was too). Are you ever happy? Maybe that should be the question.

You must be kidding. After everything we've seen all over FreeRepublic over the last two months, do YOU actually trust the intelligence community one bit?

Probably the unchecked tactical use of chemical weapons. No other adults in the room, including Europe.

We wasted the airfield, not the capitol city. No troops deployed, message to the Russians that they should have spanked somebody for it.

Trump was tested here. That he responded to this, ultimately, is a good thing.

North Korea has absolutely zero to lose launching nukes at the US. Kim leaves DPRK with billions as his country gets hammered, but in the meantime 90 percent of the US is glowing uranium orange.

The Russians and Chinese will sacrifice DPRK for the US, as long as they think the nuclear exchange will be limited to the DPRK and not Russia and China.

Back channel, I’d make it clear that the US considers the DPRK a puppet state of any power enabling it with a strategic nuclear capability, which would include both Russia and China, and that a nuclear reprisal would occur on that basis.

If Trump wouldn’t respond to the use of a chemical weapon, the next step would have been the use of a chemical weapon perhaps in Eastern Europe, Ukraine maybe.

This was the thinking during the Cold War - would we risk a global thermonuclear war with the USSR if they invaded West Berlin? With Reagan, there was no doubt.

This was a relatively inexpensive response. It was also a relatively massive reprisal - 59 tomahawks on a single airfield?

Dr. Carson found 500 billion in the seat cushions at HUD today. We’re good.

This is the same intel community that has been backstabbing Trump for 3 months, which as Rush read today has been refusing cooperation with the Russia probe, and which produced Egg McMuffin.

A healthy skepticism at the very least is warranted.

Thought I read that Trump got some intel from Israel. I trust Bibi.

Hope that is correct. Maybe Pres Trump goes straight to reliable intel ;-)

Trump just created more jobs for Raytheon workers. And Tomahawks are cheap...just $1.6 mil each. Economical ass kicking, with no troops, puts Obama to shame, makes “Russia Gate” seem like a joke, and leaves all our options open.

I'm not kidding. I am not a conspiracy wing nut. I am an American patriot. I support and trust the INTEL community, despite some of the Clinton/Obama corruption. I think it is evident that some people on FR have an antiAmerican derangement syndrome because of too many conspiracy theories.

Bibi & the US are allies, but our intetests are not identical. It would be in Israel’s interest to have Assad gone. And I’m not saying Trump is a pawn, but that Israel isn’t broken up about this attack.

I was critical at Obama for even drawing the stupid "red line" in the first place ... mainly because he had no business living up to it, either.

Agree. Possibly leading up to the Ps. 83 Damascus event. Should be interesting to see if Israel is struck by Syria as a collateral/escalating response.

Between now and Sept that area (Syria/Israel) should be fascinating to follow.

Assad is desperate. His military is unable to defeat and demolish the insurgents. He is losing ground slowly but surely. Many of his supporters have fled abroad. A cornered rat will attack anything. He mis-interpreted Trump’s campaign rhetoric and thought he was given the green light to attack the insurgents with his most effective weapon..chemical WMD’s.

Trump promised to take ISIS out quickly. He has expanded the ROE giving far greater control to the local commanders. We are assisting the Kurds and others to take out ISIS headquarters in Raqqa. Trump is not engaged in nation building or a long term military presence. But you must use military force inside Syria if you want to take down ISIS.

The bombing of an air base in Syria where you alert beforehand the Russians and others about the attack so the personnel can leave to escape casualties is a very limited action in much the same way Clinton bombed an aspirin factory.

IMO the chemical attack provided Trump with the pretext to use military force early on in his administration sending a message to Iran, North Korea, and China. It also is meant to reassure our allies that we now have a leader in the WH who will act when necessary. NATO should be reassured that the US will respond under its treaty obligations, i.e., Article 5.

Oh please.

Bashar al-Assad stupidly served up a perfect melon ball and hung it over the plate for Trump to draw a striking contrast between his administration and the previous one during a visit with Xi Jinping, who is getting a clear message that the current President isn't the previous one. And it has cost the US nothing.

I am a Trump skeptic, but this really isn't the first hill to take a stand on.

Really. Ok let’s go there. You enjoy gas, petroleum flowing freely through the world. Were you alive in the 70s? During the OPEC embargo?

What do you think the world would look like if the Straits of Hormuz weren’t open? Huh? Do you think everything here in the good ol USA would be hunky dory?

That’s what 30 years plus of US interference in theMiddle East bought us. So many of you have no idea how to see the bigger picture. Stable economies rely on stable energy sources. Until recently, that meant the ME. So yes, we interfered and labeled it with some bs reason, but all of it goes back to economics.

I’m not naive nor childish and I think you have some world history to catch. Upon.
