The first wave of genetically modified mosquitoes were released Wednesday in the Cayman Islands as part of a new effort to control the insect that spreads Zika and other viruses, officials in the British Island territory said.

Bingo. Imagine if we begin the inexorable demise of the human race via the killing off of all the mosquitoes! Irony.
There are some who believe that Zika came from exactly this kind of thing in the first place. I mean come on... How does Zika just pop up out of nowhere. Man is involved most likely.
Now we may end up with problems way worse than Zika.
What if the genetically altered males don’t mate with the females? What if they are homosexual? What if the girls don’t like genetically modified men?
Heck this whole discussion is bigoted in the first place. Its binary and heteronormative. What about the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered mosquitoes???
