I was a Cruzer yet will vote Trump because we can't let Clinton get in.
Trump must get off the teleprompted speeches or he's sure to lose.
He's so bad I wonder at times if he's doing it on purpose.
Reagan used notes written on index cards.
With his vision problems he needed glasses to read the notes. He complained that the glasses kept him from making eye contact with his audience.
His solution was to wear one contact lens so he could read the notes and use the other eye to see the audience.
Where there is a will there is a way.
Just do what works.
Really????
ROFL...
I’ve heard him say that two or three times and I always thought he said “bigly”....
Well, I’m old and my hearing may be suspect....:o))
Time is NOT short. A couple days in a campaign is like eternity in politics.
Quit being paranoid like the elite would like you to be.
Trump may be behind in the polls, yet people forget that Hitliary has just sowed up her nomination.
Here is how it will go till about three weeks till the general election. Trump will gain and pull ahead after the GOP convention. Then Hitliary will gain and pull ahead after the DemocRAT convention. Then, Trump will regain and pull ahead slightly till about the second or third week before the election and will pull away.
The enemy supporters of Trump and Trump himslef is the GOP elites as well as the DemocRATS and their Lame street news propagandists.
Funny thing, the same son of the son of a bitch that destroyed Goldwaters chances is leading the charge against Trump. And George Romney was a sordid son of a bitch.
But the other person is a liar and thief and cannot be trusted. Who believes her, really. I think the substance of the speech is what sells.
Where precision is needed -- in major policy speeches -- teleprompter is fine.
But agree he's great without a teleprompter at this rallies.
Reagan used it. I think Reagan’s speaking style, phrasing, syntax, and vocabulary were much more more suited to edited speeches. Apparently he ad a lot of his own editing, even if it was written for him, so he was always reading something that was written the way he would word it. Reagan was also great off the cuff in interviews and pressers. He was a Hollywood actor and a radio host, etc.
Trump is far more comfortable off the cuff and far less comfortable reading.
When a speech needs to be delivered very carefully, such as a policy position speech, he is smart to use the Teleprompter. He clearly seems less comfortable but I don’t care and I doubt many others care.
To me it’s like wearing the bullet proof vest under the suit. It makes your suit look puffy and lumpy and awkward, but who cares?
Obama, despite his occasional stuttering, or error, is a polished and articulate speaker, and has a very rich voice for oratory. Yet, I can’t stand to hear him speak. I lurch for the mute button as soon as he opens his mouth.
That is because it is having the right message being sincere about it that counts - not how polished the speech is. I love to listen to Trump no matter how he chooses to do it, and I can happily forgive him for not being the most articulate politician in the world.
Reagan had the right message, was sincere, AND was a master at delivering a speech. I’ll be long dead before another one like RR cones along so I’ll take Trump in a heartbeat.
Some people make me wonder why they weren't flushed first...
At least Trump writes his won teleprompter scripts.
I think he’s good with it - or without it. I like hise teleprompter speeches interrupted by “I love you Donald” to which he says “I love you too darling!”
He has a better way with words than you do, with or without a teleprompter.
If you’re complaining about his skills using a teleprompter, he just started using one, dunce.
He was good. But his co-host, the ineffably stupid Sid Rosenberg, agreed with Todd. But Bernie was great demanding that Todd put on a pro-Trump supporter during his roundtable. Todd said no Republican wanted to come on and defend Trump. No Ann Coulter? No Laura Ingraham (who works for NBC)? No Bernie? No Sean Hannity? No Newt Gingrich? The list goes on!
Actually, I have to disagree with one thing you said about Reagan: he was not particularly good with press conferences. He often had to be corrected the next day. And, of course, Reagan had years of experience in Hollywood, working for GE, SAG, etc., to hone his speaking skills. Trump is fairly new to this political stuff.
Yes, come to think of it, I remember some of that.
They were so intent on tripping him up and catching a mistake - just like with Trump.
The difference is that when the Democrats make mistakes they don’t have to be corrected the next day.
honing his “scripted” speaking skills
I’ve seen him pull out from his breast coat pocket, notes on cards or sheets of paper. And they’re handwritten, not printed. Or if there is printing, like from an article he’s quoting, it’s well annotated.
Every time the guy spoke, regardless of the subject, he attempted to come off like he was delivering the Gettysburg address. Even ordering lunch. Very phony. No bueno.
Did anyone notice his story about Kobe beef in Japan at his Pittsburg rally? Just wondering when that’s going to erupt. I thought it was hilarious!
You crystallized my thoughts on Cruz very well. He could be ordering McDonalds in the drive through and it would sound something like....”I have a dream, of purchasing a Big Mac and Large fries.....”
Mr. Cruz arrives as McWhopper:
I have persevered to arrive at this destination, to this honorable drive thorough, in person, on this day, to place an order from my fellow countrymen. This will not only alleviate my hunger issues, but will also contribute to our economy as a well.
Thanks for the mention. Not sure if I’ve seen him do that.
