Trump plays the victim card against Hispanic judge
Yahoo Politics ^ | February 28, 2016 | Michael Isikoff

Donald Trump said today he may ask the federal judge overseeing an upcoming civil fraud trial involving the now defunct Trump University to recuse himself because he is Hispanic and is therefore biased against him due to his plan to build a wall to keep out immigrants from Mexico.

Trump first raised the idea of filing a motion to recuse U.S. Judge Gonzalo Curiel during a campaign rally on Saturday in which, without mentioning him by name, the Republican candidate said the judge overseeing his case has shown “tremendous hostility” to him. “He’s Hispanic, which is fine,” Trump said.

“Why would you need to ask for a recusal and what does his ethnicity have to do with it?” moderator Chuck Todd asked Trump during an appearance on “Meet the Press” Sunday morning. “Because I think he’s been very, very unfair with us,” Trump replied. “ I think the judge has been extremely unfair. This is a case that many, many, many people said should have been thrown out on summary judgment. We have 98 percent approval. We have an A from the Better Business Bureau. “

“And you think it’s because he is Hispanic?” Todd asked. Trump’s reply: “Well because of the wall, and because of everything that’s going with Mexico and all of that, I think it’s frankly – look, this is a judge who has treated me very, very unfairly. This is a case that should have been thrown out a long time ago in the opinion of many great lawyers.”

Curiel, who was born in East Chicago, Ind., and graduated from Indiana University and Indiana University Law School, was nominated to the federal bench President Obama in 2011 – and approved by the Senate the next year by voice vote without opposition.

>>> 80% of Hispanics (especially in closely divided states) will never vote for him. <<

That percentage just went up another ten feet — er, I mean, ten per cent.

Sure enough, perhaps 65% of the electorate as of now will not vote for Trump, but funny you numbers guys never say that 80% percent of that same electorate will not vote for either Cruz or Rubio.

Matter of convenience?

U.S. Judge Gonzalo Curiel - an Obama appointee. Could be political.

Did Trump say it or not? That’s all that counts.

That’s a better gamble than a judge who is guaranteed to be against you. What’s more likely to result from an Obama appointed Hispanic Chicago judge? Hostility or fairness? How was the case assigned to this judge in the first place?

Occams razor. This whole case is a soviet show trial.

Trump really blew it on all the Sunday shows today.

The real Trump is emerging.

There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

He refused to disavow the KKK. He totally lies because he thinks, perhaps rightly, that the Trumpettes will protect him.

When actually pressed to expound on his KKK position, he told Tapper, “I don’t know anything about David Duke, OK, I know nothing about what you’re even talking about with white supremacists or white supremacy.” He repeated this three times.

What he tells you three times is true. Except that it isn’t.

No, the spin in the headline is all that counts.

I guess Trump will have to deport all Mexicans in addition to the Cubans. What? You said he was already going to do that? Son of a gun.

I didn’t know Stalin and his pals allowed civil lawsuits.

Thanks for the info!

Another odd moment on the Sunday shows was when he was asked about support for Israel in view of the fact that he has said multiple times he would be neutral between Israel and Palestine.

Here’s how he proved his support of Israel. He claimed he was grand master of a parade.

“years ago when, believe me, it was dangerous, because there was a little war going on and a lot of problems and I walked down Fifth Avenue. And Jewish friends of mine still remember that day. I have a park named after me in Israel that I donated. And Trump: Well, first of all, I was the Grand Marshal of the Israeli Day Parade 10 I’m a big fan of Israel.”

OMG

I sort of like Trump.... Agree with some of what he says, etc

But the Race Card is just as disgusting when played by a conservative as by a lib.

Awww. Did mean Donald refuse to play the “let’s discuss the KKK and how you might need similar to them” game like he was supposed to?

He saw the ambush a mile away. He says he hates the kkk. Then the interviewer explains how the kkk is also against illegal immigration... just like him. Childish.

Pathetic. What a pathetic defense of Trump.

Why didn’t you just blame Ted Cruz.

I predict that a bunch of Trumpettes will come on to defend Trump on everything but that not one of them will have a coherent or legitimate argument.

The words ‘cruz’ and ‘lie’ will be thrown around a lot.

Speaking of racists, what about his refusal to disavow the KKK this morning?

Was he Grand Marshall at a KKK parade?

Maybe not but he pretends not to know who David Duke is.

I’m reviewing all the Trump defender posts here so you might want to do a little better than “get over your Trump hatred.”

You may choose to call it whiny.

We choose to call it factual information that should steer any reasonable voter away from Trump or at least cause them to think twice.
