Raqqa, Syria
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.
"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."
An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.
Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."
According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.
"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."
So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."
That was cute! I like puffins!
Yep...I can certainly see that ruse happening with that cat! LOL!
*bleep* that. I want my free kitten.
Yes I understand you want a free kitten. However your present kitties might not want a baby brother or sister.
Sigh. I wish I had a kitten or two too.
My neighbor Vicki will give you free kittens. Free dogs, too, if you want some.
The heart wants what it wants. The landlord is not nearly so accommodating.
Not mine. I told mine many years ago to pipe down and follow the brain or it would get us killed. It listened.
AND.... The continuing Stoooory is...
I finally decided to do dishes (*gasp*) and washed them in the right-hand sink, as always, and rinsed them under running water in the left-hand sink, and...the left-hand sink doesn’t want to drain.
So the big project for the first thing in the morning is to pour vinegar and soda in the drains. *sheesh* I could call maintenance, but on a weekend? They take long enough to show up during the week, when they are on property.
And I have gotten no response to the complaint form I filed about a month ago about my stove burner and the fridge seal. So this time, I will address it to the new manager specifically, and see what happens, and how long it takes to happen.
Sorry to hear that. I hope you have drainage (and heat and a seal) soon!
It’s looking like more rain here. I have some people coming for choir tomorrow, although several will be at a ministers’ meeting of some sort. Any practice is better than none!
I’ve arranged a ride for Sally (and some food) to Missionaries of the Poor in the morning.
I can fix the drainage problem up to a point, and if I could arrange it, I would have had a working stove when I moved in. It’s been over three years, now, and maintenance has been out to “fix” it four times.
As for the fridge, I noticed the seal was split about eight months ago, and it was only when I put a rug back in the kitchen and heard the door scrape on something that I saw the seal was completely pulled away at the corner of the door for approximately 3” in each direction. I had called maintenance about the spilt seal, but nothing has been done.
I turned in an itemized complaint on March 8, and I’m still waiting. So I’m going to make a copy of the copy I kept and take it up to the office on Monday. *sheesh*
I went out to sit with the peeps this morning and when I left, it was 70 degrees and the wind was only about 3 mph. I had made some refrigerated cinnamon rolls yesterday, and rather than keep them here where I would be tempted, I took them to the ramada to share.
Because it was so nice, I only had a hoodie instead of my jacket. I sat at the table for about three minutes when the wind came up out of the NNE about 20 mph. So I went back in and put my jacket on. DANG! I’m SOOO ready for summer! LOL!
Anyway, the folks liked the treat. :o])
That was very nice of you. You sure are having disagreeable weather!
I often take stuff to the ramada to share, because I just don’t want to throw the stuff out or eat it all when there is so much. It’s a hard habit to break, cooking for a family, which is why I share my food with Charlie so often. He cooks canned food, so he is appreciative of the stuff I make and share with him.
But baked desserts? My downfall! LOL!
And yes, the weather is disagreeable. Charlie came out in his shirtsleeves, but went back in for a jacket! Me? I dress for the cold, period. And I realized something in the last couple of weeks, this is the last winter I’ll be able to wear the Danskin pants I wear in the winter. They have lasted six years, but this is it. (Five pairs!) They are just too thin, now and are showing my undies.
And I have some tops that are going, too, so I’m hoping I can catch some things on sale before too much longer.
Walmart should be clearancing winter things.
I hope so! I don’t want to put these away when I swap out my summer clothes, but I hope the sales don’t start too soon...I’m not done with all the stuff on the budget page, yet.
Welp, I’m taking my silly self and going to bed. It was a busy day today, not necessarily strenuous, and although I don’t feel too tired, I am a little achy, and I need a breathing treatment.
So, kiddos, I’ll see you in the morning!
Ta.
FReepmail me a list of things you can use, with sizes, and I’ll watch our clearance racks.
It being warmish today with many golden emanations from the solar orb, I ventured forth to play with assorted power thingies that will become of increasing necessity as the climate change progresses, as it is prone to do, into that thing called (among other things) growing season.
The first project was the Little Red Ridingthing. Last time I paid atention to it was immediately after dumping some StaBil into the fuel tank and riding it around the yard to mix the gasoline and stabilizing fluid and to insure that the fuel vaporizing device had said mixture in its bowl to inhibit overwinter varnish. Which was sometime shortly after I decided that no more mowing was going to occur until the advent of warm...
After checking that oil stuff and determining that it was of suitable level I attempted to start the beast. Nada. No rrrh, rrrh, rrrh. Or rrrh, rrrh. Not even a rruh... Yes, the battery was dead.
So I wiggled the gearselectordevice into the neutral position, released the brake, and attempted to push the Little Red Ridingthing to within a jumpercable’s distance of one of the assorted vehicles in the drive. And it refused to move. Well, refused to move with any ease. A cursory inspection determined that the rolling resistance was way higher than usual due to three of the four tires having assumed a less than round aspect most noticeable where they contacted the ground. To verify that I was not experiencing an illusion, I smushed on the tires to verify that they were indeed way less than firm.
No problem. I retrieved the airdensity compacting device and its accompanying hosething, wheeled it to the vicinity of the Little Red Ridingthing, and fluffed up the tires. This allowed the Ridingthing to roll with much less effort and be pushed to within the working radius of the jumpercable device which had been previously connected to the battery of one of the assorted vehicles in the vicinity.
After connecting the jumpercablethings to the battery of the Ridingthing I returned the airdensity compacting device (and its accompanying hose) to its storage area so as not to cause Son #1 or #2 to gripe when I suggest they do likewise. Following that I wandered aimlessly about the property for a bit to allow for a charge to accumulate in the lead-acid interface, then returned to the Ridingthing and gave the key a twist to the ‘crank-em-up’ position. And was rewarded by the sounds (and accompanying vibrations) of a 17 hp Briggs coming to life.
After disconnecting jumpercablethings from both Red Ridingthing and the selected vehicle of the assortment residing in the drive, and returning same to a semi-secure location, I mounted the seat of Little Red Ridingthing and drove it around the property (and chased some bambicritters in the process) to allow more time for the battery to convert more lead sulphate into lead, lead dioxide, and sulphuric acid.
In the midst of harassing the bambicritters in the north cornfield I noted that the sky was threatenizing so headed back for the barn-that-is-no-longer-a-barn where the shed-in-a-box that shelters all the power-operated yard devices is erected. I backed the Little Red Ridingthing into its reserved space within the shed-in-a-box enclosure and turned off the ignition switch. Just as liquid glowbull warmthing began condensing from the sky. In copious quantities. Accompanied by rumblebangbooms..
I hastened for the shelter of the interior of the living-place.
And..
It quit raining.
And the sunbeams returned.
After getting everything in the outside world wet enough to discourage further outdoor activities.
You’d think it was a Monday.
