ISIS Surrenders in face of Climate Change Conference

Raqqa, Syria

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.

"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."

An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.

Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."

According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.

"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."

So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."

I like your Cup of Tranquility

If I drank it on the moon, would it be a Sea of Tranquility?,

The photographer must have petted the fur backwards on that kitteh, to get such a disgruntled look! LOL!

Now I need a coffee, I think.

The new Nook came but I have to take it to B&N to have them look at it. I can’t get it off the introduction page. They will know what to do. (I’m used to the old style.) And besides, they make excellent coffee there!

I just got an email from a local store with the headline “Free Kittens”

I opened it and it said April Fools, then showed what they have for sale today and this weekend.,

I forgot it was April Fools. I wish everyone a happy April Fools Day.

That was funny because we have a new water park here (this is its second summer) called “Cowabunga Bay.” It’s HUGH, and generally is pretty packed.

One can see it from Boulder Highway, about three miles out of town.

Well. THAT was a wasted trip. I saw a whole slew of employees sitting around the entrance, smoking, and, thinking they were on break, but as I got out of the truck and headed for the door, I was told there was no power. Sure enough...the store was dark and if I had been more on the ball, I would have seen the car service bay area was dark, as well, when I came down the hill behind it.

SO. When I go to get the truck washed this morning, I will stop at the large Walmart on the way home, “just-in-case,”

And all I wanted was stamps and a gift card...dang. I hope that’s not an indication of how the day is going to go.

I’m sure it’s not.

I’m sure it will be worse.

Back from the gym. The sun came out just in time to shine on Jake in his bed.

HA! I went to the car wash and got the DEE-Lux wash and wax for $10, then went to the nearby HUGH Walmart. No check stand was open except the self-service, and I picked up a gift card for Slamdunc2 and got a book of stamps. The card didn’t work. Period. So I wasted 15 minutes on that, then with a different card (tulips and gardening tools on the front- so UN-manly!) and headed for the indoor McDonald’s for an iced chocolate mocha. Not.

By then, I realized this day was going to be a good one, in spite of what the karma gods wanted for me. So I stopped at the Micky D’s on the way home, where I KNEW I could get an iced chocolate mocha! And by that time, I felt like I had earned it!

As soon as I have finished it, I will go out and vacuum the insides of the truck and do the Armor-All thing. I hope I have enough to do all the black plastic stuff and the tires. I just put it on my list for next payday, so I’m good.

The Armor-All sprayed its last on the left rear tire. But everything else was done, so that’s good.

The front floor mats are on the patio table, drying. The back ones didn’t need it because no one sits back there. Wait. Once, a 10 year-old did! Most of the time, I have the seat folded so I can use the cargo area, but sometimes, I just want to feel like I’m driving a real car! LOL!

So. Now, of course, I need to be prepared for the inevitable relapse that will come by Monday...and Monday, I have to go to the pain clinic to get the prescription for morphine. *sigh*

The truck is getting about 210 miles per tank (11 gallons) of gas, down from the 265 it got when it was first given to me. But that’s all city driving, and nothing on the freeway. So I guess even that’s OK.
