Can a person be "cured" of Type 2 Diabetes? Dr. Sarah Hallberg provides compelling evidence that it can, and the solution is simpler than you might think.
Dr. Sarah Hallberg is the Medical Director of the Medically Supervised Weight Loss Program at IU Health Arnett, a program she created. She is board certified in both obesity medicine and internal medicine and has a Masterâs Degree in Exercise Physiology. She has recently created what is only the second non-surgical weight loss rotation in the country for medical students. Her program has consistently exceeded national benchmarks for weight loss, and has been highly successful in reversing diabetes and other metabolic diseases. Dr. Hallberg is also the co-author of www.fitteru.us, a blog about health and wellness.

To the best of my knowledge none of my budgies has ever been diagnosed with Type II so you might be on to something. Yes, I had already looked it up on Amazon. — thanks for the brand recommendation!
Canary grass is a plant, Phalaris canariensis, belonging to the family Poaceae. Originally a native of the Mediterranean region, it is now grown commercially in several parts of the world for birdseed.
Apparently the Canary Islands were named after this (or vice-versa).
I think I see some in my parakeet seed mix (mostly millet) and it is listed on the label but think I'll get the chocolate-flavored "for human consumption" variety.
“Seems there`s nothing at her page, does any other such believing Doctor have any published dietary guidelines?”
Yes. We’ll be getting much further into those subjects in the upcoming videos being posted later tonight and the next several days. I’ll be offline for the most part for awhile this evening.
“If I`m not wrong, what she`s espousing sounds kinda like the Paleo-Diet to me.”
The ketogenic diet is a more very low carbohydrate and moderate protein restricting diet than the other low carbohydrate diets such as Atkin’s and New Atkins Diets, the Paleo diets, and so forth. The ketogenic diet is formulated specifically to force the metabolism to stop burning glucose and start burning ketones derived from your dietary fat and stored body fat. So long as there is a greater than normal amount of insulin hormone circulating in your bloodstream your body is unable to unlock the stores of body fat and burn them for the body’s fuel source. Using a ketogenic diet to put the metabolism into a state of ketosis, unlocks access to burn the body fat, and restores the body’s preferred energy source of energy from nutritional fats and body fat.
“If so, given the cost of meat, in OBozo`s never ending summer of recovery, what is a good substitute, nuts, legumes, but what about the essential amino acids? Corn is a carb source.”
Meat is typically a 1:1 ratio of fat:protein or a 2:1 ratio of fat:protein. Consequently, if you try to derive most of your daily calories from meat, fish, and poultry, you would end up with too many grams of protein and too few grams of fat. You have to restrict your protein to about 1 gram of protein to 1 kg of lean body weight. This tends to work out to about 1/4 pound to 1/3 pound of meat, fish, or poultry per meal or less if you have other sources of protein such as eggs, cheese, dairy, and so forth. Also, the meat needs to have as much fat as possible, which implies less costly cuts of meat. So, meats do not constitute very much bulk at all in your ketogenic diet. Insteadd the bulk mostly comes from low carbohydrate and non-starchy vegetables, two cups of greens and one cup of non-starchy vegetables per day dressed with all of the butter and homemade salad dressings filled with healthy fats you can contrive to eat. These dressings are used to change the ratio of fats:protein from 1:1 or 2:1 to something closer to 4:1 of fats:protein.
I should be back online again in a few hours if you have questions.
bttt
Do not ingest any that is not food grade. The stuff at the grocery store is for animals and has silica in it. Do not eat that stuff from the grocery store. :-)

Bump
Just to point this out, but comparing your opinion of the other videos with your husband’s opinion of the one from this thread doesn’t actually provide any useful information. Two different subjective viewpoints.
I tend to not write lengthy posts. I listened to the video while my husband was watching. Dr. Fung has a lot of research to back up his program and he shares it. One of his lectures is to a bunch of doctors and he gets pretty technical but he has clear graphics and charts. I was just saying if someone is interested in this topic they should check him out too.
Not a problem. I just wanted to mention the point.
My Physician is a DO. He’s wonderful! He’s also a good friend and colleague.
***Additionally, as I get older, my diabetes is getting harder to control***
My husband has a good friend who swears by the prickly pear cactus. He was following his diabetic diet, skinny as a rail, but couldn’t keep his BG under control. He was on insulin and still running around 300.
His new wife is half Native American and she convinced him to start using it. He said he had to make adjustments on how much he ate of it/drank the juice but within several months he was off insulin completely and said he’s happy he gets to eat ice cream every so often again.
He talked some other guys at work into trying it and they say it’s working. I tried it for about a month but that wasn’t long enough for me to see results. The store we bought it from went out of business and I’ve had much more important things going on with my health I just haven’t thought about it. You may want to try it. I’m going to try and find another Mexican store to get it from.
*** Corn is a carb source***
You know, I used to serve corn with dinner fairly often. I learned to cook from my mother in love and she always served a green and yellow vegetable at dinner so I got in the habit of it too.
Then I either heard or read that someone said, “You know, corn is what they feed cows and pigs to get them fattened up.” Now we rarely eat it hahaha.
Not true. By definition, if you get your hA1c down to 5.6 or less, you are NOT diabetic and (provided the damage isn’t already done) in all likelihood will not develop the complications of diabetes.
This you can often do through diet and exercise alone. Of course, if you’ve been prescribed meds, such as Metformin, etc., stay on them until your doctor tells you you can quit taking them. But once your weight is down and you’re exercising, and your A1c is within normal bounds, you’re basically home free and can lead a normal life.
I mentioned elsewhere that as I get older, the diabetes is getting harder to control. Before I was able to occasionally skip a dose of glyburide. Now I have to take it daily, sometimes twice a day. I used to be able to maintain a max of 130 carbs a day. Now it's less than a hundred. The doctor explained that the pancreas which produces the insulin is wearing out. Insulin production is slowing down. Sometime down the road, I may need insulin. I will continue to do all I can to postpone the insulin, but I must be prepared for the day I will need the “pen.”
So, no, my diabetes is not cured and it never will be. Telling anyone they are cured is misleading and sets them up for a potentially fatal outcome.
Type 2 diabetes can be cured.
The body needs carbohydrates and far more importantly, the bacterial biome in us, which controls our health (immune system) and contributes to our happiness (brain function), desperately need starchy carbs.
Ketogenic diet is only for temporary use, or for the very sick.
