FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A Fort Worth woman is celebrating her 104th year of life. Well at 103 I didnt think Id make it, but Im still perking along. At 104 years old, Elizabeth Sullivan says she doesnt need the advice of real doctors. So she keeps another doctor close by.
People try to give me coffee for breakfast. Well, Id rather have a Dr. Pepper. Sullivan fell in love with the soft drinks trademark 23 flavors when she was in her 60s. I started drinking them about 40 years ago. Three a day. Every doctor that sees me says theyll kill you, but they die and I dont. So there must be a mistake somewhere
For her birthday she got a very big surprise. A beautiful cake shaped like what else, Dr. Pepper.
Commenting on her special day she said, When you live to be 104 and still can talk to nice people, you deserve some Dr. Pepper, but I never expected this.
She even got a gift basket straight from the CEO of Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, Larry Young.
Sullivan is well known in the Fort Worth community. She taught math at Paschal High School for 15 years. Tutored football players for free. Today shes thinking more about what and who shes thankful for. Man Im feeling good. Im glad Im still here. Im glad Im not in a rest home. Glad I can read books and watch TV and have people come by and say hello.
She was asked if she has a secret for living past 100. She said she really doesnt, other than, you just keep living.
Addendum 1: If you want to retain your 2A rights, stay away from medical doctors.
As George Burns once said just prior to his 100th birthday, “I had a doctor...........But he died.........”............................
All the more reason to drink it!...................
Thanks for sharing this story. It made me smile. A good thing for the morning.
I’m a Pepper, we’re a Pepper, wouldn’t you like to be a Pepper, too?........................It’s the most original soft drink ever in the whole wide world!....................
Years ago, I had a round sticker that said “I’m a Pepper”, about 1” in diameter. It was stuck to the bottom of our salt shaker for many years, until eventually washed off. Strange humor.....
Why was it on the salt ?.........................
Good for you ‘great’ grandma. Drink what you damn well please whenever you wish.
My grandmother was 91 years old... eating a fried fatback sandwich with a glass of buttermilk with a dip of snuff in her mouth.
Mmmmmm...hot Dr. Pepper with a slice of lemon floating in it.
Bone warming....
Cool museum in Waco.
Originally it was called a “Waco”, not “Dr.Pepper”.
I’ve been to the Dr. Pepper Museum in Waco. Some 3-4 years ago.
Way Cool.
Going back again in July.
There is a little store out on the way to the woods where I work that sells Dr. Pepper with sugar in bottles. Pepsi are easy enough to get but Dr Pepper and RCs in glass bottles with sugar not so easy.

The pepper was already pepper. The salt should “be a Pepper”. ??
The only 'real sugar' stuff we can get around here is Mexi-Coke.
buttermilk?..........eeeewwww.............
My Grandma(Little Granny) gave up “snuff” at 94 when she was in the hospital for double pneumonia...lived to 101...(she had an occasional soft drink)
Grandpa(PawPaw)gave up “snuff” at 90...said it might be bad for his health...died at 91... (would not drink soft drinks)
