Alzheimer's could be prevented and even cured by boosting the brain's own immune response, scientists at Stanford University believe.
Researchers discovered that nerve cells die because cells which are supposed to clear the brain of bacteria, viruses and dangerous deposits, stop working.
These cells, called 'microglia' function well when people are young, but when they age, a single protein called EP2 stops them operating efficiently.
Now scientists have shown that blocking the protein allows the microglia to function normally again so they can hoover up the dangerous sticky amyloid-beta plaques which damage nerve cells in Alzheimer's disease. The researchers found that, in mice, blocking EP2 with a drug reversed memory loss and myriad other Alzheimers-like features in the animals.
Microglia are the brains beat cops, said Dr Katrin Andreasson, Professor of neurology and neurological sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Our experiments show that keeping them on the right track counters memory loss and preserves healthy brain physiology.

A long time ago I stepped on a whole lot of sea urchins. I still remember it. Stepping on sea urchins helps you remember things.
Well, if she comes back, don’t have sex with her.
If this were true, why wouldn’t scientist and doctors not focusing on this product?
And this is the last you’ll ever hear of it.
My sleep couldn't be more f-'d up plus my now 80 year old mother has early Alzheimer's (although I don't believe she's ever had sleep issues).
I am so hosed.
Do you have citations to that claim?
Can’t make enough money?
BTTT
Since first hearing of the product being advertised on a local radio station (about three weeks ago), I decided to do a little internet research.
I have found no evidence of anyone with Alzheimer’s being “cured” using this product, however, there is some evidence that it might slow the disease down somewhat. That’s about all I could find on the subject.
Wow. And just in time.
I hope.
>> Wish they would hurry, I aint getn any younger. ;-)
?? You already posted that.

Just don't test it on monkeys. They might get smart.
Posted what?
:-)
I really hope something comes of this soon. It either works or it doesn’t. Bring it on. Three of my paternal grandparents lived into their mid 90’s and were completely lucid. The fourth, died from sepsis after a surgery. But I have friends and other inlaws who are not so lucky.
I work with Alzheimer’s patients part time. Eventually you forget everything. Even how or even that you need to eat. It’s bad news.
Cleans up calcium. There is another chemical that removes aluminum Mine I believe is from stress creating an overactive immune system correlated with rheumatoid arthritis. Problem for me is I can’t take anything that will slow down my immune system. So. Gotta go sometime.
first this is interesting...

however, the product is still available but walking into another room and forgetting why you are there is NOT a sign of having alzheimers. It is very common and a normal psych response.
no adverse effects on the rats...

The producing company did their own study and don’t know if it has been replicated. Only 25% of ALL studies are usually productive. Politics.

We have the maternal X link of early onset in our family; my older sister died from in at age 56. She’d been ill since she was 40. Many cousins are now developing it. Hope this research pans out in time and will treat genetic AD. Please, please, please Lord.
It is terrible. At my age, I can see signs of it setting in. I can go longer speak languages I used to be able to though I thought in English and translated in my head. I no longer can do that. It seems inevitable and slowly progressive. Humor, however misplaced is my only response.
