The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you. This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks.
No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked. It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. There is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!
NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.
The leprosy is in the footpads, so as long as they chopped off the feet, they’re OK I think.
My experience with octopus was exactly opposite. It was fork tender and extremely tasty; roast octopus and mashed potatos with gravy over it.
It was made by a Greek lady in my hometown and brought to work by her son. I have no idea where she got the octopus locally. I don’t know what part of the animal, either.
My uncle's father, Slavo, was an ardent coon hunter and saw nothing wrong with cooking the carcass after removing the fur pelt. Greasy...you bet !
I had one bite of it and that was enough.
It’s probably all in the preparation, don’t you think?
You probably needed more of a coonmeister chef. At least you enjoyed the goat!
“When I say things like that, people tell me I need to get out more. It is so wonderful to have this thread with kindred spirits! Thank you all for being here and posting here!”
:-D amen!
I get pretty amazed at the skillsets that people exhibit. We rode in rickety old vehicles up and down curvy, narrow mountain roads without sliding off, plummeting down and getting killed. (That was at Barranca del Cobre—sp?) The bus drivers in Cancun did hair-raising stunts which amazingly didn’t involve us in collisions. It seems like they don’t use safety precautions and yet, amazingly, nothing happens (while I was there, at any rate).
Thanks for the thought, but I don’t think there’s any way to put them on top of the grow lights. These are T5 high intensity full spectrum grow lights and give off very little heat anyway.
The metal is only 1 inch wide and then there are two sides that are cuved downward and suspended by two cords at each end. No way anything balances on that.
I might be able to use a heating pad. I moved them all outside where they’ll get a brighter light and temp should be about right for maximum sprouting. Some of the seeds were kinda old, so I wasn’t suprised. However, I did have a couple of brand new that just did’t develop either.
The leftover peanuts from last year all sprouted, and I have started transplanting them.
Have already started some seeds for replacement on the no germinators so we shall see what happens.
LOL. Could be. On a positive note, radishes are good for soil amendments over winter or so I’ve read.
Your scooter mishaps are becoming legendary.LOL
Good to hear from you. Your welcome for the recipe.
LOL
Due to the terrain here, it is a lot like riding a dirt bike through low speed maneuvers. It’s getting pretty beat up looking too, as I bend metal and break off plastic pieces.
We have some hair raising tales of our travels in the car, too!
We have fun and live large for old folks, more so than our kids, actually. LOL They don’t get out and have fun. Couch potatos!
Yea, that plus the cut of meat, too. I imagine the tentacles are different than the body, too.
This is Friday, noon. I have a date with a retired earth physics/geologist this afternoon/evening and tomorrow, so I will be out and not posting when the new thread starts today or tomorrow as we are checking out some land around here.
(I see potential slave labor.)
We have to vet him before he becomes slave labor. LOL
He doesn’t know I have all you gardening friends. He will see the garden and he’s never seen an Egyptian Walking Onion or a tobacco leaf, and didn’t know about Stevia or its sweetness. I’m leaving some ripe strawberries for him to pick. Of course he’s never seen Deck Corn, either, or a tall Tromboncino squash plant. This should be fun.
If he ain’t nice to you, tell him an army of a hundred gardeners will come after him.
