The California Air Resources Board is reportedly considering a new plan to help transportation for low earners: buying them cars. The agency would like to give those of low income a voucher to buy energy-efficient vehicles like the Nissan Leaf, which has a sticker price of $21,000. The board currently gives drivers $1,000 to $1,500 to get rid of their older vehicles in an attempt to curb carbon emissions; there is a second program that gives up to $4,000 depending on the vehicles involved.

I can’t wait to see a Volt with 20” rims.
An EV requires a home (with a garage, preferrably) for charging, and an EV rate plan for that. Poor people are typically living in rental apartments (at best) where no such charging accomodations are available. How are they supposed to charge these Leafs?

And because they’re the government, they never have to pay it back!
And (they really believe this! I’m not just making it up!) they can keep borrowing money forever! No amount us too much. And it’s good for the economy!
Can these poor people afford the insurance? Can they afford the electricity cost if they can’t find a “free” outlet?
While they need less maintenance, there are still maintenance costs.
I am sure they will be subsidizing/mandating those eventually

Will auto dealers that sell more than 50 cars be required to provide their customers with auto insurance?
Come on people. When have the Democrats ever done anything out of a sense of compassion? Chevy isn’t selling enough Volts. The Democrats in California are trying to figure out ways to help their brother Democrats in The United Auto Workers Union. If Chevy doesn’t sell more Volts, they’ll have to lay off UAW people and then who will donate to the Democrat party? It’s just part of The Big Democrat Party Money Machine.
Yes, it’s totally unfair that the wealthy get subsidized Teslas, while the poor have to make do with subsidized Nissans and Mitsubishis.

Probably mostly mandating. The rich apartment building owner has a duty to provide these things for their tenants.
At communal charging stations paid for by the taxpayers, of course.
We have no money in CA how are they going to pay with the imaginary tree growing in the backyard. Frankly I am sick of paying all these taxes for a bunch of garbage. Why work when you get everything from the imaginary tree of money.
