ESSEX, March 5, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Jill Recknell is mourning the loss of her grandson, despite the fact that he is alive and well. Its just that, according to five-year-old Zach Avery and his parents, hes not her grandson anymore. Hes her granddaughter.
Zachs family, who live in England, says that he was a normal boy up until last year, when he became obsessed with the cartoon character Dora the Explorer and started dressing in girls clothing. Zach before becoming a "girl."
He just turned round to me one day and said, Mummy, Im a girl, Theresa Avery, Zachs mother, told the Daily Mail, when the family went public last month with Zachs story. I assumed he was just going through a phase and left it at that. But then it got serious and he would become upset if anyone referred to him as a boy.
After a psychologist diagnosed him with Gender Identity Disorder, the family has asked everyone to treat him as a girl.
Theresa and her husband Darren say Zachs school has been really supportive. They have told his fellow classmates that their son has the body of a boy, but the brain of a girl. The school created gender-neutral lavatories for him, and the family hopes he will be able to use the staff toilets when he gets older.
But Recknell, Zachs maternal grandmother, says she cannot get on board.

Id rather see him kicking a football than parading in a pink dress, she told People. He was born a boy. It says so on his birth certificate.
The situation, she says, has made many of the normally joyous aspects of being a grandparent painful for her.
Grandmothers love seeing photos of their grandchildren growing up but I could never bear to look at a picture of Zach pushing a pram or cuddling a Barbie, Recknell told the news service.
Gift-giving occasions are particularly difficult, she confided: I could never bring myself to send a doll or girls clothing it would seem so wrong.
The whole situation is heartbreaking for me to be honest and has left me in tears, added the grandmother of seven.
Recknell is not the only family member with reservations. Her son, Jay, says that his nephews transformation has divided the family and raised concerns about Zachs parents decision to go public.
According to the Daily Mail, the Averys are now negotiating with a tabloid newspaper to sell Zachs story to them.
Zachs story comes amidst reports that the number of young children being labeled transgendered is on the rise, with clinics even catering to such children and providing treatment that can involve being administered puberty-blocking drugs to stop the onset of puberty, and subsequent hormone therapy to help the child look like the opposite sex.
In one famous case reported on last year, a seven-year-old boy who now says he is a girl was allowed to join the Girl Scouts.
She admitted to being mentally ill but was having surgery to turn herself into a MALE cat.
A lot like that guy who killed himself.
There were once pictures online somewhere, but you wouldn’t want to see them. lol.
She also had problems with a ghost chicken or something
Remember Granny raised one of the parents. She is not innocent in this.

Follow the $$$$.
“Remember Granny raised one of the parents.”
I know a lot of conservative Grannies wondering why their kids turned lib. One told me “I did not raise my kid this way”. I believe her.

It is a phase. That child runs the house. The Parents are weak.
If that child said he was a dog and barked and got upset when treated like a child they wouldn’t say ok let him be a dog!!
Don’t psychologists warn you not to play along with other people’s delusions?
Reading Stalking Tiger’s wiki, how does a Native American wind up with an asian spirit animal?
The irony is, Dora is a Tomboy! Nevertheless, they do have Diego to hold up the boy side. Without telling stories, let me just say that my grandfatherly experience tells me that gender identification is an issue for the under five set, especially for the boys, because they tend to live in a woman’s world at that age. I see it in the form of seeking reassurance for their masculine identity.
And of course, at that age they are very, very suggestible. You can say you understand it, but example by example, it is always startling.
I used to see a lot of that an acquaintance’s house, and it didn’t sit well with me. So I never did let my kids watch it.
my four year old son loved Minnie Mouse but that didn’t make me think he was a mouse..............
I would like to see these pathetic excuses for parents let the little rugrumpler watch several vids on the life and times of that 'hero' muhhammud (may Satan forever spit on its memory) and then allow the besotted bumpkin go play in Londonistan and proclaim that all must recognize that the Great Mohummdidd is returned.
That should solve any lingering questions post-haste.
See how well all the tolerance and understanding works out for them then, eh?
I was six when it came out and I still enjoy it. (I’m a woman, BTW).
Leapin’ Lizards!
I can’t comprehend that. The pain of ripping the hair out of such a sensitive area must be extreme.
“....look for subliminal messages. I am betting they are there.”
Well, Dora is definitely pro-illegal immigrant and pushing for a bi-lingual America, I’m not sure if you can really construe her as being pro-reconquista, but maybe.
However, I do NOT think Dora has any hidden messages regarding “transgenderism”.
These parents are crazy, no wonder their son is screwed up.
How about “NO you’re not a girl - BECAUSE I SAID SO”?
that may or may not be an intentional “gender bender
***
Probably is. Show her for so long as being just like a boy and then dress her in girlie clothes. What fun for any boy! These people disgust me.
When the grandsons visit, there is no TV. I have them so busy running around outside getting decent exercise that they almost never even think of TV. One out of 20 visits, the older one mentions it, but I just tell him that TV is for fat, lazy, dumb kids. And he is then off to his next adventure.
Unfortunately, there are far too many adults who let the TV babysit for them, and the perverts who make some of the programs know they have a captive audience. Scary.
The progressives realized sometime backthe propaganda power to be had in producing children’s programs.
Too bad you’re not single. :-P
I’m not sure it’s subliminal. In lots of kids cartoons, the girls are presented as smart, beautiful, and competent. Many of the shows have awkward, bumbling boy characters who are manipulated or shown up by the girls.
