Yeh, not telling what sort of poision. I am very averse to any form of shots, so the fact that the dream was about shots combined with ObamaCare, means it was a night mare for sure. Glad I can’t remember all of it-I’m sure it was scary beyond belief.LOL

Strange indeed!

Speaking of giving oneself injections, I ended up having to do that very thing a few months ago. I recall when my father had an abdominal injection at the ER once - I was horrified. So when I heard I’d not only have to have one at the ER, but self inject for a week or so, twice daily, I nearly had a collapse.

It wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected, but it took some grit. I am by nature a-skeered of needles and medical stuff in general.

It’s hilarious that in your dream a young teen delivered the shot to you. I wonder what that says about your subconscious concerns regarding obamacare? :)

I think you have learned that you will be able to grow some of the best “survival food” ever, not to mention great stuff to eat for anytime.

I especially enjoy snipping off a green pepper, some chives, and chopping up some onions from my garden to add to my omelet, pizza, salad, etc.

IIRC, the list of herbs that are for partial shade were taken from my medicianl herbs in as little as 50 sq feet book. Those are all perennial that I highlighted and posted.

That’s good way to use green tomatoes. Some people also like fried green tomatoes-not me though.

I like fresh tasting tomaotoes-not that grocery store icky stuff, though sometimes the ones still on the vine are passable.

Here’s another option using newspaper or paper napkins/towels-whatever you have. If you want the tomatoes to ripen sooner rather than later: Rinse them in warm temperature water, drain and let dry. Wrap each one individually in the paper. Set them in a shallow container-I use cardboard box lid. Leave some space for air circulation and let the tomatoes ripen in the kitchen.

For longer term, wash in cold water, drain, wrap and place in box. Store in a cooler place. You might possibly have tomaotes from now till Christmas. Just check them now and again. Bring the ones with blush out into the warmer area.

Sometimes, I put a tomato and apple or banana in a paper bag together when I am in a hurry for it to ripen. I’ve read that it works. Tried it-it seemed to help(could be the placebo effect LOL).

See my post #164 regarding green tomatoes.

We sometimes get snow around Thanksgiving. Sometimes we have Indian Summer until just before Christmas. If we can get by with just a little temporary light freeze-that would be perfect.

I could cover up stuff, and it would survive, then the temps would get nice again and lots more stuff would get finished and others started for the winter garden.

Can’t plant the winter wheat till it frosts. Then I like to see it get a good start before the real cold sets in.

I have no clue what the teenager symbolized. I do know that I hate to hear a mouthy teenager worse than anything, so I guess it could be Karma.LOL

I found the list you did for me (forgot I had that and I did save it on my computer)about growing herbs in shade, partial shade, and sun, and have printed it to put in my plant folder. Also found a complete list of perennials and non ones.

The great book I bought, “Healing Spices” takes care of knowing how to use them for medicinal purposes.

Shots don’t bother me at all, but OCare sure does.

We’ve been dancing with frosts lately, and now there’s a freeze expected, although forecasters keep changing their minds about which night it will be. This morning was my best chance to clean up the garden, so I took it. I now have 2 grocery bags full of green tomatoes, and 2 bags full of half-ripe tomatoes. Some of the half-ripe ones are cracked or split, so I’m looking for recipes to use them in. I might just can them up as puree and ignore the color.

About 20 minutes after I got done, it turned gloomy and cold outside. It’s raining now. I think I came in just in time.

I tried to clean up my cucumber vine as well, after sucuming to that powdery mildew infestation and 3 frosts it finally looked dead. But the darn thing is resprouting again! At every leaf node there are new buds, some for leaves and some for flowers. It’s like the Energizer cucumber, keeps going and going and going . . .

I was hoping to get out to my land today, but it’s too cold to be out in the rain. Besides, I still have squash in the fridge that needs used before it spoils.

I don’t mind the needle when they take blood-just shots.

Goes waaaaay back to childhood trauma involving an accident and stiches. The adults did manage to give me a shot once during school vaccinations but it took 8 of them to hold me down.

Dad told me years later, when kids are old enough to go to school, they are old enough to talk them through it. Once you hold them down, though, they never trust you again.

Mom was the one that signed the papers, but she never did it again. Weird thing is she was more afraid of shots than I was. I did get my shots from the Dr. from then on, because I knew they were necessary-still hated them.

I always took my kids to the dr for their shots, and they never developed the same fear that I did. I always told them truthfully, you will be getting the shot.

It will hurt a little, like when you accidentally stick your thumb sewing. I will not let the dr proceed till you give the nod. We will not be leaving in time for your favorite tv show unless you nod pretty quick.LOL

You’ll definitely have to process the split ones for some purpose. As someone discussed up thread, it’s likely that the could be used in chili with no problem.

I personally wrap the green tomatoes and let them ripen-it’s like an extension of the season.LOL

Time has come for settling in with a cup of hot tea after the garden chores instead of iced tea of summer. We are almost to the end of the garden season here too.

If it were me, I’d go ahead and plant those seeds. The trees that grow from them will still be apple trees, although they might be different from the mother tree. If you decide you don’t like them, you can graft branches from the old tree onto the new trees.

I’m curious to see if you have any luck with the pawpaws. I’ve tried growing them several times, but the ones I’ve ordered always die. They don’t transplant well.

A lot of kids have problems with shots, for me, it was liquid, nasty tasting meds, for my step daughter it was pills. I don’t have a problem with them taking blood samples, I just can’t watch. lol

Green tomatoes:

My favorite is to hold upright, and cut into quarters, like an apple; then slice the quarters about 1/8 inch thick, like German or cottage fries & fry them up with butter (sometimes sliced onions are added) & chopped bacon; serve with fried egg(s) on top.

Your cinnamon rolls look very tasty. I’ve been procrastinating all day on whether to bake a pear tatin, or pear upside down cake..
I guess in the time I spent “pondering”, I could’ve baked both, and then some.

Looks like this:

If the URL is http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp135/Ellendra/html_zps0adc3e7c.jpg

Then you would type

Resulting in

The URL for the picture always goes inside the quotation marks. And the br part starts a new line, which helps keep everything from crowding.
