19 tips to complicate your fast food order and increase the odds that a minimum wage low skilled worker is going to spit in your food.
The tip from my daughter is: ask for honey mustard at Jack in the Box to add to your chicken sandwich; the sauce works well with the fried patty.
My first summer job was at Jack in the box.
I ran the fryers. Tacos and super tacos were a
pain in the butt, you had to lift the basket out of the
fryer and pry those (still a-sizzlin’) bastards open to
add the lettuce and cheese and sauce. Burned your fingers and was greasy.
Finally, I figured a way out of it.
Beginning of shift, I’d duct-tape over the taco section at
the drive through menu and write “Tacos Unavailable” on the tape.
I removed the tape end of shift.
Cut my taco duties by about 70%.
I guess I figure, if you want better quality food, go to a sit down restaurant, or something other than a fast food chain place. Some “mom and pop” type places I know of serve excellent burgers, made with real beef, made to order. You have to wait a few minutes, but it’s pretty fast. And their prices are competitive with McDonald’s and Burger King.
The business model of chain fast food places does not lend itself to special orders, substitutions, etc.
Until the “this is for Trayvon” anger subsides, I am going to avoid fast food joints. Too much opportunity for peevish young folks to pull a Jesse Jackson.
When I want “fast food,” I have four Chinese places to choose from. Last time I had a grease-burger from Steak and Shake, I got the ,,,er,,,, nevermind!
Now I want an Arby’s. 2 Arby’s sauce, 1 Horsey sauce.
What a great idea!!! LOL!
Same here and you know poshitus just loves this.
I eat something from a fast food place about once every five or ten years, so I’ll try to remember these suggestions.
The last 2 times I ate at Steak and Shake, the waiter was a screamin' fruitcake. "Light in the loafers" didn't begin to describe either of these two burger queens.
I haven't been to Steak and Shake since, and that was 4 years ago.
Many years ago I looked forward to my trips out West so I could get those. They came with the sauce and there was no breading on the patty.
‘Special orders’ is short for ‘pull over to the side, sir’
I’ve been ordering my burgers without mayo or without mustard for a long time — they’re right, this ensures that they’re made fresh and you get a much better quality burger.
For fresh fries, order “no salt.”
Thanks for the biggest laugh on this Sunday morning!
Respectfully, if you are in The West, just go to In-N-Out Burger. They start their people at nice hourly wages, and all the cooking and prep is done in the open. If you ever lose faith in the modern generation, you will be pleasantly surprised, the youngsters that they employ are usually top shelf. Thanks !
One time I went, I was handed my takeout order by a very sullen black kid. It was obvious that he’d rather kill me than give me my order!
That’s funny! Bet the boss wondered why the taco parts inventory was all over the map!
