I hope you enjoy these as much as I did.
Actually, it was a mobile rail artillery piece that required a lot of personnel to man it to fire.
Some amazing color pictures from Russia from over 100 years ago.

Not a chance, but I can tell this is gonna be good :-)
Robert Todd Lincoln was at his father’s deathbed, he was in the train depot when Garfield was shot and he served on McKinley’s cabinet. Dr. Doctor Bliss (yes, his first name was Doctor) “treated” both Lincoln and Garfield. He actually killed Garfield by probing around for the bullet and infecting the wound which led to his eventual death months later. People revived an 18th century poem’s stanza “Ignorance is Bliss” to denigrate this “Physician” which ignored Lister’s warnings about antiseptic cleansing of hands and tools.
Geeez.....that boy was just plain bad luck, wasn't he?
THANK YOU! :)
My pleasure.

No, but I know one who should be.
Great post.
I love old photos.
Yeah, he’s got the crazy eyes, for sure!
“an unusual thing I found out about Chaplin was/is how insanely attracted women are to the guy.”
That is hard to understand, until you see pix like the ones here. Look how handsome he is, out of the tramp costume.
Eh, what do I know, before my time.
My mother hated him, that COULD be because he was a lefty, or it could be because my mom hated a lot of things/people.
But, it’s surprising to see what a good looking guy he was. And, I guess he was pretty rich too, by the time he married Oona O’Neil anyway. How old was she, like 16 or something? And whose daughter? Eugene O’Neil’s?
But I think they stayed together to his end, didn’t they?
Signed,
TOO LAZY TO GOOGLE
Thank you! It is gorgeous.
Can anyone find one woman in that crowd? The only women I see are the two on the billboard in the rear.
Ladies Day it wasn't!

Just noticing your tagline.
I have to say, I really think you are on to something.
Thanks for this thread too, fascinating.
But it’s the tagline I’m going to be thinking about!
HA! You answered all my questions that I posted to this thread. Thank you.
I didn’t know they had 8 kids, that’s amazing!
“Can anyone find one woman in that crowd?”
1912 might have been a little early, but my brother told me that our grandmother (a DEVOTED Red Socks fan) used to go the the World Series on her own. I’m assuming that was when she live in NY, because when she live in Mass it would have involved driving, but in NY she could have taken the train.
SO, say in the 1930s.
Don’t know who was babysitting my dad and aunt!
Hey, it’s Christopher Walken’s father!
Guessing, Henry Ford, Warren Harding and I don’t know.
The Tramp was his signature character.
As a woman, my first reaction to the photo was that he was a handsome man, albeit a bit short.
