EU watchdog reveals approval for GM foods fails to identify poisonous gene
54 of the 86 GM plants approved contain the dangerous gene
Gene found in food for farm animals producing meat, milk and eggs
Biotech supporters argue there is no evidence that GM foods are harmful
A virus gene that could be poisonous to humans has been missed when GM food crops have been assessed for safety.
GM crops such as corn and soya, which are being grown around the world for both human and farm animal consumption, include the gene.
A new study by the EUs official food watchdog, the European Food Safety Authority(EFSA), has revealed that the international approval process for GM crops failed to identify the gene.

I have no need whatsoever for a doctor.
I know how to stay well, and what heals; what doctor do you know that can honestly say that? (only Dr. Schulze I suspect)
They grow seedless bananas on more than 400 acres.
Seedless bananas have been genetically modified. Why didn't that destroy their unique ecosystem?
I hate to have to call you a liar, but nothing you have said is factual.
The farmer should have been awarded hundreds of millions for the damage that monsanto’s franken seed did to his land. The court got paid off just like Roberts did to save Obamacare.
Your right about Editor-Surveyor, I ignored him then he went to stalking me and replying to me in other threads. Friggin
starved for attention and a typical internet addict/narcissist.
I doubt aflatoxin has anything at all to do with GM.
It's caused by growth of a fungus, many species of the Aspergillus genus, and is caused by improper storage. Sometimes it grows on crops in the field due to weather conditions, but I don't think GM crops are likely to be any more resistant than the traditional varieties.
BTW, most foods we eat contain some level of mycotoxins.
Since the acute health effects of aflatoxins on adult humans are not particularly drastic, it would not be particularly logical to try to weaponize them.
Some other mycotoxins (fungal toxins) have indeed been researched and even used as weapons.
Why would you need to know “what heals”? If you get sick, isn’t that just God acting? If God won’t heal you, why would you presume that you should learn and do anything on your own to circumvent His will?
Where do you draw the line between accepting the way God has made us, and trying to improve upon your lot in life by eating right, or exercising, or treating wounds?
I wouldn’t be so strident in my response, except that you started by suggesting that genetically modified foods were somehow in opposition to God.
SO I’m wondering what exactly you think we are allowed to do ourselves, in what ways are we allowed to use the intelligence God has given us?
In my opinion, when God told us to have dominion over things, that included DNA. We are to be responsible, but I don’t see the very nature of genetic manipulation to be in opposition to God’s will, much less an attempt to do “better” than God, any more than wearing a knee brace or putting pressure on a wound would be an attempt to “do better” than what God created.
We ARE God’s creation, and what we do can be part of God’s will, as he gave us the ability to do these things.
The Canadian judiciary, 90% of Canola farmers and almost 100% of corn and soybean farmers are being paid off by Monsanto. I'm not quite sure how Monsanto makes any money out of such an arrangement, but you probably have a conspiracy theory for that as well.
Why don’t you read your retort, and see how stupid your strawman proposition is.
It is totally unrelated to what I said.
Oh, and thanks for showing what you are; I had no idea, but now I know.
>> “Why would you need to know what heals? If you get sick, isnt that just God acting?” <<
.
God makes no one sick.
Sickness is a curse from your own actions, or from recent ancestors actions. That is what the word of God plainly says.
What heals, unconditionally, is righteousness through confession, repentance, and rejection of the sin that lives within you. It’s a daily thing, since we sin constantly, and live with the consequences thereof.
What does “the way God made us” have to do with it? Are you referring to our free will to sin?
Eating right will certainly maintain your strength, but eating unnatural franken food will certainly undo the good of that.
How could tampering with God’s genetic protections of his creations not be contrary to his will? Wearing a brace tampers with nothing, and putting pressure on a wound is instinctive behavior.
If we “use the intelligence God has given us” we recognize that we are incapable of delving the repercussions of tampering with a protective system that is clearly not yet understood (that was the original theme of this thread).
That reveals the problem of pre-selection.
There was a virtual certainty that you would find a set of geographic areas which, if drawn based on a criteria, would meet that criteria — in this case “people who live an average of 100 years”.
The question is whether they can identify real factors which led to the measured effect, or if it is just randomness.
To illustrate, imagine you took 1000 pennies, and threw them across a gym floor. Odds are 50/50 whether any penny lands heads or tails.
Now, take a hulu hoop. Walk around the gym floor. Try to find 5 locations where, when you check all the pennies in the hulu hoop, over 80% are heads.
You will likely find more than 5 such locations. And there will be no reason — it’s just how random events happen.
I know it is not a scientific argument.
But there has to be a reason why, if you look up GMO Opposition, virtually every website you hit is a left-wing organization, or an environmental whacko organization.
Yes, I suppose they could all be right this time. But it certainly makes it hard to call GMO a left-wing conspiracy.
