A Turkish newspaper columnist has been heavily criticised after writing an article which said the Olympic Games is destroying the female figure.
The piece - called "Womanhood is Dying at the Olympics"... soon spread around the world by saying the Games was distorting women's bodies ....
'Their breasts the symbol of womanhood, motherhood flattened into stubs as they were seen as mere hindrances to speed.
'I am not even talking about female javelin throwers, shot-put athletes, weightlifters, wrestlers and boxers.' He added that the appearance of many female Olympians was 'pathetic'.
Following the publication of the article, Mr Aytug was strongly criticised by people on Twitter and his own female colleagues.

Thanks. Yes, boobs flap around during athletic competition unless they’re strapped down. It’s a real hindrance, beyond uncomfortable, and can cause damage to the structures if they’re not restrained. Kind of like wearing a jock strap, for you guys.
Here’s my idea: let’s criticize all the male swimmers who shave to get greater speed in the water, and say they’re effeminate. Let’s criticize male athletes for wearing a cup! Let’s criticize male gymnasts for doing something that isn’t strictly within the traditional roles of men! Makes just as much sense.
It looks as though all the ladies in these photos would have a pretty nice set once they take the harness off. I think this guy is just threatened by a strong, tough, independent Western woman. Wants his women soft and helpless so he can beat them up more easily.
Never have I seen two men so insecure as you two. Scared to death of strong and ambitious women. I actually pity you both in a way.
There’s a lot of reasons the women are ahead of the men in our medal count. Not the least of which being that the summer games are very deliberately skewed to a female dynamic in the US, they play sports that are generally not popular with US males, we don’t want to watch them and we don’t want to play them. This means those sports don’t draw our best male athletes, which means that the male athletes we’re sending over are second tier, and don’t win. But they ARE very popular with women, they watch them and the play them, so our best female athletes are in these sports, and that’s who we send.
You just have to compare basketball and gymnastics results, these are what happens when our best athletes are playing that sport, we wipe the floor with the competition.
People talk about how China is 'catching up to us', especially in the manned space arena. Well, IT'S BECAUSE WE'VE STOPPED OUR PROGRESS, ESPECIALLY UNDER OBAMA!
This is EXACTLY my point. Sheesh!
I disagree with you on that point. One reason why U.S. female Olympians win so many medals is that U.S. women compete in a lot of events where most countries don't even send serious competitors to the Olympics. Look at U.S. women's soccer, for example. Men's soccer is dominated by countries from Europe and South America, and yet many of those countries simply don't field competitive women's teams.
And what's with beach volleyball, anyway? What kind of country would compete in that event and still keep a straight face?
Well said discostu.
That’s right, America today is SOOO much better than the America of our grandparents. Other than 60,000,000 abortions, STDs, divorce, fatherless children, poverty, homosexuality, AIDS, gangs, murder-rate...feminism has made us just a grand place.
Would you like some more Koolaid?
Hahaha, I’m actually sitting here writing this with a double strand of pearls and my mama’s gold cross. And nail polish.
The female shot putters should wear Beach Volleyball style uniforms.
the American women especialy in the water polo are bug butch women compared to many very nice looking feminine eastern Euro women.
Some of the bodies I’ve seen have been disgusting.
a bit more of the bullcrap aroma for ya: Let’s say I was an awesomely athletic American guy. There’s quite a few money-making venues for me to take my talents to, aren’t there? Some of the best American male athletes are too busy honing their skills to excel for their professional teams. most of the athletic women have little option; may as well do the Olympic thang.
As a short big breasted gal I thought they were all beautiful and an inspiration to all women to go out and do their best.
We place more emphasis on professional sports, not amateur sports such as the Olympics..Does not mean our men are emasculated or becoming more woosified as you say and does not mean we are not progressing.
Let's compare out professional mens teams to other countries mens teams...no comparison.
Awesome post - thanks for sharing that!
Well hey, if you don't have an argument, just attack the person.
Works most of the time for Democrats.
To the point though: So I take you don't think that America today emasculates men...and masculinizes women?
Well... other than soccer, of course. And the Canadians might have a thing or two to say about hockey.
Exactly.
