Lat Tuesday I had the cataracts in my right eye removed and a new lens implanted. I checked in yesterday to get the wrappings removed.
It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I had no clue just how nearly blind I was. I can close my "new" right eye and the view I get from the cloudy left is dismal, before surgery my left eye was the best.
I napped a lot yesterday, at first I couldn't quite get my vision right, but every time I woke up things were a little bit clearer. This morning is almost unbelievable.
I can focus a manual focus camera without glasses or an eyepiece magnifier.
I can clearly read the LCD display on my DSLR without my glasses.
Colors are amazing again, white is truly white, not a dingy grayish yellow.
I can precisely align the sights on a pistol again, and on a rifle.
The cataracts sneak in, you might not notice them, you just keep adjusting and compensating. I got pretty good at that, but I sure have missed a lot. I wish I'd caught them sooner.
I like good news.
I assumed by his post he was going to do the other one, too. Sometimes the imbalance results in headaches, and somtimes the eyes have a hard time adjusting until they’re both done. I am not a doctor, or course, but I play one on Free Republic.
Oh well, as long as you play one on FR I will accept that you know what you are talking about.Sort of.
Just because I did not experience any headaches between procedures doesn’t mean they can’t happen. I just did not want you to dampen his excitement.

I experienced the same thing over 20 years ago.
After the bandages were removed I couldnt stop looking at things. My apartment building was red brick, not yellow. People told me how now I was looking at them, not through them. I felt like dancing in the street screaming I can see! I can see!
When asked what cataracts were like Id tell them to look through a sheet of waxed paper.
I am farsighted, with my vision being tested at 20-15 when I was a teenager.
I had to start wearing reading glasses in my forties.
My eye doc said new lenses like this would fix my vision.
The drawback is that I would have to have another issue like cataracts get the surgery paid for by medicare/medicaid.
I have been told the surgery and new lenses cost tens of thousands of dollars without financial assistance.
A good friend’s father had this done, and the results were amazing.
Left eye is scheduled for 3 weeks from now. I took the right lens out of my glasses, looks weird but works OK, LOL
So grateful you can see again, brother.
Great news! I’m glad it went great for you. Now, if my wife will just get them done. I read her your post.
Good news. Thanks for posting.
Fantastic! I can’t imagine the photos you will take now that you can see clearly again!
Prayers answered. G-d is Good!
Don’t let your new eyesight go without a few thousand pictures Swampsniper!
I am so happy for you, Swampy!! My family and I send good thoughts your way all day. I want you to promise us to take it easy for a bit, okay? I’m not saying you have to sit on the couch all day but just don’t push yourself (yeah, I know... I’m a horrible NAG!)

Ditto!
I was a senior in high school when I got glasses. I was amazed that leaves could be seen, signs read, and people identified several feet away. If only I could have seen blackboards in school.
Woohoo!
I complain about my occasional blurriness but know that there are a lot more out there that cant see half as well as I do. Iv never met anyone more vigilant at protecting their vision than myself.
Sounds like you need to tune up that long range shooter and maybe back up a hundred yards or so.
What a wonderful post! I am so glad that you are seeing so much better. Best wishes for the next go-around.
I read this and almost cheered out loud! I am happy for you!
I have luckily still been told no sign of trouble with my eyes...fingers crossed.
