During his electoral battle tour in the south of the States, John F. Kennedy visited Dallas (Texas) on November 22, 1963. On his arrival at 1140 hours, he was warmly welcomed by the people of Dallas. Kennedy, Governor John Connally and their wives sat down in the limousine of the President which led the motorcade through the town.

I was 7. Our teacher was so upset she had to leave and we were let out of school early.
There was no crying in my house. But we were glued to the TV for four straight days.
Much like when the Challenger blew up, too.
It was traumatic to lose a then popular commander-in-chief. Thank you for your service to our country.
That’s kind of the problem, because you can’t say “The gummint did it...” any more than you can say “The gummint is hiding UFO’s.”
Really??? The gummint is hiding UFO’s? All 3+ million people who work for the federal gummint are hiding UFOs? The janitor who sweeps the floor at the capitol has a UFO hidden in his garage?
Whatever it was, it was a rogue subset of people. And I suspect CIA, various Cuban factions, the mafia had a hand.
But one thing is totally obvious. Oswald may have been involved thinking he was the one or whatever, but he DID NOT act by himself, there were multiple shooters.
“Back and to the left. Back and to the left.”
(Just stirring up the discussion a bit.)
BIG FLAME SUIT ON, because as soon as you say what I said, they always come crawlin out of the woodwork...
Oswald was the perfect fall guy. And he his his rifle in John Kerry’s cousin’s garage.
I remember my mother crying, too.
bttt
Simply amazing...
Yes, I was in the 9th grade-my speech teacher, Mr. Larsen came to class and told us President Kennedy had been shot.
We thought he was joking. When he said he was not, we all became very quiet.
In 1988, twenty-five years later Mr. Larsen and I were teaching at the same college. I sought him out and reminded him of that day. He remembered coming to our class and giving us the news.
Ditto sophomore....the teacher of the bookkeeping class gave us the word mid-session; I don’t recall who came in to advise him.
Nahhh....... it was jackie ( hell hath no fury like that of a woman scorned )
So you and your teacher came around full circle - bound by tragedy. Thanks for sharing.
The press was getting ready to go public with the story about JFK’s communist spy girlfriend. What would that have done to the Democrat party in the early 60s? The Democrats killed their own President to save the party.
Yes I do remember. We lived in the middle of nowhere on a ranch, didn’t know anything about it until my mom and her friend and I went to pick up my brother and others from the school bus. We heard it on the radio while waiting for the bus. I don’t remember why I didn’t go to school that day. The schools had let out early after the news of the assasination but the bus kids had been held until normal dismissal because there was no way to notify all the rural parents.
