Top Ten Most Overrated Actors/Actresses of All Time
big hollywood ^

Posted on 11/20/2011 8:47:17 AM PST by Perdogg

It’s been almost two years since I posted at Big Hollywood regarding the Top 10 Most Overrated Directors of All Time. I’ve had a chance to reflect and think about the crimes I committed in that post. And, to paraphrase Mr. Eko from the greatest TV show of all time, “Lost,” I ask no forgiveness because I have committed no sin … except leaving Spike Lee and Tim Burton off the list, that is.

So, because you all enjoyed that list so much, and because I apparently have a death wish, it’s time for another: The Top 10 Most Overrated Actors/Actresses of All Time

(Excerpt) Read more at bighollywood.breitbart.com ...

Oh! Yes! I forgot about Lenny! Another good Hoffman performance. What an interesting film. Saw it many years ago.

I didn’t expect it to be as good as it was. I thought it would just be an iconic plot, like wag the Dog, but it was much more philosophical than that.

How could you possibly make a list of the ten most overrated actors and leave off Silvester Stallone, Steven Segal, and Michael Douglass

key word' "overrated"

Here are my criteria: are they considered great actors/actresses? If not, they can’t make the list

“Tombstone” was definitely an excellent performance, but that’s about it. Terrible in “Batman Forever,” kind of a fun caricature in “Top Gun,” competent in “The Ghost and the Darkness” (though Michael Douglas stole that movie), and that’s about it. Did you see him in “The Saint”? Neither did anyone else.

Not real big into Meryl Streep, but I thought she was great in “The River Wild” and “Julie and Julia.” Never saw that “Devil Wears Prada” movie, thankfully.

I’m appalled that Sean Penn isn’t on this list. I like Dicaprio and a few others on that list, but Penn is just a cartoon character in damn near every movie he’s ever been in. I remember hearing how amazing he was in “Casualties of War,” but then I saw it, and I couldn’t stop laughing at him...

That’s what gives it its staying power.

"Robert Downey Jr.: his portrayal of an Australian actor dude portraying a black soldier dude pretending to be an Asian peasant farmer dude in Tropic Thunder is brilliant."

While watching this movie with family members I made the comment that Downey deserved an Oscar, but all agreed that comedic roles were never up for nomination.

Turned out he WAS nominated...

Absolutely.. Put Joe Pantalioni on that list.. But the best actors of our generation are Christuan Bale and Daniel Day Lewis.. Cate Blanchette on the other side.

I have to say I think buscemi is miscast in Boardwalk Empire, which I love. He seems uncomfortable in that role, IMHO.

Downey seems like someone who could pull off any role offered to him.

whenever the subject of "bad actor" comes up, the first name that leaps to mind is always Chuck Norris.

Run while you still can.

He was great in Chaplin.

. The word “overrated” is underrated for her over the top “acting.”

Watching Streep act is just that, watching Streep act. She is so over the top and exaggerated in her roles that she just makes me cringe.
