Top Ten Most Overrated Actors/Actresses of All Time
big hollywood ^

Posted on 11/20/2011 8:47:17 AM PST by Perdogg

It’s been almost two years since I posted at Big Hollywood regarding the Top 10 Most Overrated Directors of All Time. I’ve had a chance to reflect and think about the crimes I committed in that post. And, to paraphrase Mr. Eko from the greatest TV show of all time, “Lost,” I ask no forgiveness because I have committed no sin … except leaving Spike Lee and Tim Burton off the list, that is.

So, because you all enjoyed that list so much, and because I apparently have a death wish, it’s time for another: The Top 10 Most Overrated Actors/Actresses of All Time

(Excerpt) Read more at bighollywood.breitbart.com ...

Tom Cruise has been able to ride “Risky Business” and “Top Gun” to a 25 year career of absolute garbage.

Thank you for reminding me about Costner... One of the worst actors of all time.. And that’s a pretty lofty title!

He had one good film: "No Way Out."

He’s got it right on DiCaprio, but dead wrong on Jack Nicholson and Bill Murray. Most of the others like Tom Hanks are hit or miss depending on the movie.

I think Clooney is very good at what he does. He fills the Cary Grant type roles, only more ably.

The best actors are either Jean Claude Van Dam or Chuck Norris.

Love 'em both.

Eh?

Box office poison in addition to being complete rubbish.

When he started taking himself seriously ("Philadelphia") I lost interest and never really understood the fascination with him.

I agree. I did like him in "Apollo 13," but most of the rest have been just average acting, IMO.

The premise of the list is erroneous. There's nothing wrong with actors playing to type. I don't think that makes them bad actors.

I think Bill Murray is very funny, and I like his more recent stuff, which is a little darker and drier. I loved him in Lost in Translation. Perfect role for him. And he was great in Groundhog day.

I like Jack Nicholson too. No one else could have starred in The Shining and pulled it off like that. I like him in his early work, too. Easy Rider, Five Easy Pieces, and one of my favorite movies--Chinatown.

I like Clooney, too. He was very good in Up in the Air. I loved Intolerable Cruelty. He was perfectly ridiculous in Oh Brother Where Art Thou.

And if you prize versatility, how can you not like Meryl Streep? She's not in the kind of movies I like, but surely she is capable of taking on very different parts. She was very good with Clint in that what's it called movie.

Julia Roberts brother Eric Roberts is a mighty fine actor who gets little praise.

Julia Roberts was the first name that popped into my head when I saw the topic.

Disliked is different from overrated but Julianne ‘squint and whisper’ Moore covers both categories. Cannot abide her.

His top 3 should not be on that list. And why isn’t Tom Cruise on this list? Sean Young? Keanu Reeves?

But already saw her nude in Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982), Flesh+Blood ( 1985 ), and a couple of others by the time Miami Blues came out.

I thought peck showed lots of pathos and vulnerability in "12 O'Clock High."

Bad list for the most part. Leaving Marlon Brando out of the top 10 is all the proof you need. Yes, he “coulda been a countenda” but the fact is he wasn’t. Terrible actor.

I agree but even he is surpassed by James Dean.

Agree on Walken. Excellent actor ... able to adapt to whatever role they put him in.
