Sarah Palin on Immigration (in her own words)
On the Issues ^ | Updated Aug 2011 | Sarah Palin

Supports a path to citizenship, but no amnesty for illegals

Q: Should undocumented immigrants all should be deported?

A: There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant - there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants - not only economically is that just an impossibility but that's not a humane way anyway to deal with the issue.

Q: Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 million undocumented immigrants?

A: No, I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. We have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides.

Q: So you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?

A: I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

=====

Took no action on Alaska's "sanctuary cities" Lou Dobbs notes that at least two of Alaska's cities have been officially designated as sanctuary cities: "An August 14, 2006 report produced by the Congressional Research Service listed 31 cities and counties that have 'don't ask, don't tell' sanctuary policies in place. They [include] Anchorage, Alaska [and] Fairbanks, Alaska. Alaska and Oregon both have state-wide policies that forbid state agencies from using resources to enforce federal immigration law."

Apparently, this is by design from the highest levels.

In fact, a resolution to that effect was passed in the Alaska state legislature in 2003 (before Palin's election): "[Alaska] House Joint Resolution 22 - May 2003: Establishes that state agencies and instrumentalities may not use state resources or institutions for the enforcement of federal immigration laws, which are the responsibility of the federal government."

It’s not clear whether Gov. Palin has ever weighed in, pro or con, on Alaska’s sanctuary policies.

Tightened restrictions on illegal alien's drivers licenses

There has been an ongoing fight in Alaska over drivers' licenses for illegals. A bill banning drivers' licenses for illegals passed the Alaska state senate in 2003 [before Palin was elected governor]: "JUNEAU (AP) - The state Senate approved a bill that tightens the standards for getting a driver’s license by requiring applicants prove they are in the country legally and by placing time limits on licenses for legal aliens."

The measure did not pass into law. In any event, Palin's DMV subsequently tightened the administrative regulations on drivers' licenses, thereby giving rise to a lawsuit by some folks who found the new restrictions inconvenient.

“Not sure attacking Perry for possibly not completing his term of office is a good line of attack for Palin supporters.”

Why not, Charlesie? Ricky is still collecting his government check, running for President on the taxpayer’s dime. Palin had the integrity to resign and come south to campaign for the GOP candidates so they could register the big landslide last November. Perry....not so much.

I posted it. And your attacks on other posters.

You certainly have cooled down. Interesting.

But I have to go to bed so I have no more time for Palin detractors crapping on a Palin thread.

Goodnight.

How like an arrogant old fool to categorize someone in such a way. I see Texas will be under attack for the next 18 months or so. But don’t worry. You’re in good company. Christ Matthews has your back. Cheers!

And, proven to be the most polarizing and unfavorable political of the recent past.

Even Chimpy Bushitler?

The one who had the movie made about his assassination?

The one with the cartoon "Snipers Wanted" on his picture?

The one hung / burned in effigy at Dem rallies?

The one who was accused of stealing the 2000 election by subverting the Supreme Court?

The one who had household-name newscasters presenting faked documents (trivially proven to be faked by little more than eyeball inspection) to spread the lie that he had skated on Air National Guard service?

Like I said, assimilate much? Are you eligible to vote in the US?

You might want to consider moving to a less intellectually challenging political forum until you get up to speed -- I suggest Democratic Underground.

Cheers!

You're talking about Obama right?

Obama is now a uniter: even the hardcore left is beginning to come around to rejecting his policies now.

Cheers!

Anyone But Obama is not a strategy... it's a shout of desperation, and follows the same bull the libs did in 2004 with Kerry

Palin: "But as I said before, it’s anybody but Obama. Things cannot get any worse under a Republican administration,"

Palin: ""If at the end of the line he's the one left standing, I would be extremely enthused about him because I'm a believer in ABO - anybody but Obama."

Palin: “I’m of the mind of ABO — Anybody But Obama, at this time.”

UPDATE: Palin: Palin reiterated that she’s for ABO — “Anybody But Obama"

I don't think Sarah Palin is desperate, and I don't think she is pushing the same bull the libs did. Not sure why you disagree with her so vehemently, but I'm with Sarah on tihs one -- Anybody but Obama.

Not sure who I'll end up voting for yet; of the candidates that are currently announced, I'm leaning toward Bachmann or now Perry since he's in the race. I would be pleased if Santorum could win, but I don't think he can. I'd be pleased if Cain could win, but he probably can't either.

Ha! I’ll catch you in the morning then. Still waiting for that post on what I could possibly have said about Palin other than she’s the “real deal” and all that. I’ve been a huge supporter so am extremely interested in what you could possibly have to show me. Still...waiting....................

This is why Palin is just another RINO, CINO and TPINO as far as I am concerned.

Those are pretty strong accusations. By making them, it's apparent that you don't have a clue about Governor Palin's actual positions on illegal immigration. I suggest you begin at the top of this thread and read at least the first fifty posts, to come up to speed.

Your intellect is clear and best at insulting people who don’t agree with you as illegals or non-American (worse un-American) loons. Get a grip. I got nothing to prove to you.

You have basically conceded the country if in the last resort you aren’t willing to do whatever is necessary to get them out.

Yes, many employers find it convenient to hire illegals because some of them do work well. Nevertheless, there is an enormous criminal element among illegals; they are generally poorly educated and don’t value education; they bring with them a culture that lends itself to creating the kind of utterly corrupt society that exists south of the border; and every one of them is stealing from taxpayers through the use of infrastructure and services to which they are not entitled.

Illegals are already causing bloodshed. That problem is going to grow. The only choice we have is to surrender or do the necessary. Their numbers can be diminished by cutting off services and jobs - if we even have the will to do that - but there is a core, particularly the criminal element, that will require force. Again, Eisenhower did it, and I find that those who say it shouldn’t or can’t be done simply just don’t want it done because they want a cheap labor force, want to force a change in our electorate, want to transform our culture, or have some personal relationship with an illegal.

You’re right. I won’t sit out, but I won’t vote for Romney either. Not to worry. He won’t be the GOP nominee, but if by the slightest chance, he eeks his way into the nomination, then shame on the GOP. The TEA PARTY will then likely nominate a candidate and if that relects the Marxist, .... I see little difference between Romney and obama, so my work and money will be spent on trying to elect a bullet proof TEA PARTY House and Senate.

WORK YOUR HARDEST FOR YOUR CANDIDATE, GOVERNOR PERRY!

I intend to do the same for mine, Governor Sarah Palin.

In all that back and forth, you make one great point, which none of us should lose sight of. And, that is to elect as many conservatives to the Congress (House and Senate) as possible in this next cycle. It is NOT just the POTUS race that matters.
