“Not sure attacking Perry for possibly not completing his term of office is a good line of attack for Palin supporters.”
Why not, Charlesie? Ricky is still collecting his government check, running for President on the taxpayer’s dime. Palin had the integrity to resign and come south to campaign for the GOP candidates so they could register the big landslide last November. Perry....not so much.
I was talking about her running for VP. She didn’t quit her job while she ran for Vice President. And she didn’t tell voters in 2006 that she would run for VP if asked, and quit her job if she got elected (which obviously she would have).
And before you respond, yes I know there is a difference — Palin was never ASKED if she would run for PResident or VP when she was running for Governor, so she never said she would not do so.
But that’s just because Perry WAS asked the question, and answered it based on how he felt at the time. We don’t know how Palin would have answered it, but I’m guessing she would have said she was planning to serve her term, and she would have meant it.
As to the resignation the next year, she had reason to resign, but if someone had asked her in 2006 if she would resign in 2009 to campaign for the GOP candidates, I doubt she would have said yes. Because in 2006 she would have had no inkling of what was coming, so she would have truthfully said she didn’t plan to do so.
I guess the question is, do you think that when Perry was running for Governor, he was really planning to run for President? I happen to believe he answered the question truthfully at the time, and only later decided to run.
I also happen to think that Palin meant it when she said she was glad he changed his mind; I know others think she was being sarcastic, but that’s not how I read it. I don’t think it means she supports him, but I don’t think she was attacking him for entering the race. Again, I tend to take her at her word, she doesn’t seem as bitter and sarcastic as the average freeper.... :-)
