Modern feminism erupted upon Western culture in 1963 with Betty Friedans The Feminine Mystique, which smeared suburban households as comfortable concentration camps. Friedan was a communist who knew little of housework. Her husband even furnished a maid. Yet she charged that tending the hearth repressed homemakers who would find greater contentment in roles historically filled by men.
Were feminists true to their purported ideals penetrating previously masculine domains and liberating women from reliance on men they would adore Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann. As the world actually turns, conservative women find feminists their shrillest critics. But their achievements, unlike Hillarys, didnt depend on successful husbands. Whatever you think of Palin and Bachmann, such hypocrisy highlights an ulterior agenda.
While feminism today spans the political spectrum, its most radical proponents were spawned by the same cultural Marxism covered here previously. Feminism ostensibly focused on promoting women, but in practice attacked the traditional family through the sexual revolution, abortion on demand and no-fault divorce. None of which elevates women.
Feminism as exemplified by NOW, and many Womens Studies professors at universities, interpret life by dividing society between oppressors and oppressed. Like many of their leftist comrades, these self-proclaimed womens advocates inevitably champion dependence on government intervention or wealth redistribution: gender based affirmative action, legislating away the wage gap, and publicly funded daycare.
Feminists deconstruct literature, scouring it for supposed sexism or jealously revise history into herstory, but circumventing reality is futile. A chauvinist culture didnt determine women would bear children and breastfeed. Nor did society render men stronger and better suited to rigorous physical exertion. We

feminists are parasites.
they hate their fathers, brothers, husbands
but yet they suck off them
and the government to boot.
Betty Friedan . . . would she be the only radical who is uglier than Helen Thomas?
yes.
she was actually a card-carrying communist.
when i was an undergrad they were promoting her as a housewife and victim.
Feminists are parasites you say?
Sarah Palin
2008 CBS News presidential interview with Katie Couric Sept 30, 2008
Q: Do you consider yourself a feminist?
A: I do. Im a feminist who believes in equal rights and I believe that women certainly today have every opportunity that a man has to succeed and to try to do it all anyway. And Im very, very thankful that Ive been brought up in a family where gender hasnt been an issue.
Q: What is your definition of a feminist?
A: Someone who believes in equal rights. Someone who would not stand for oppression against women.
I still hear the 45 year old statistic that women earn 75 cents for every dollar a man gets. Feminism has totally failed if that’s the case.
Or else it never WAS about money.
Sarah Palin is a real feminist. I respect actual feminists.
sarah obviously means something else, a Biblically-inspired woman, than the
socialist feminists that dominated the 20th c.
This paper examines the growth of government during this century as a result of giving women the right to vote. Using cross-sectional time-series data for 1870 to 1940, we examine state government expenditures and revenue as well as voting by U.S. House and Senate state delegations and the passage of a wide range of different state laws. Suffrage coincided with immediate increases in state government expenditures and revenue and more liberal voting patterns for federal representatives, and these effects continued growing over time as more women took advantage of the franchise. Contrary to many recent suggestions, the gender gap is not something that has arisen since the 1970s, and it helps explain why American government started growing when it did.
Even Marilyn French, in “The Bleeding Heart,” had to acknowledge something. The man in the novel, an executive, finally told the female, a feminist, that she wanted things both ways, and that the work of businessmen paid for the opportunity to have such a philosophy as her ‘liberated’ point of view. There were some stinging words in that book.
Andrea Dworkin:
I'll spare everyone the HT pic, as I'm sure we all have it memorized by now.
Sounds good to me. My parents certainly didn't raise me to feel second class to men. They figured that if I set my mind to doing something, that I should be able to do it. Not to force myself in some area in which I was clearly not qualified, but simply be able to prove myself.
Hypocrisy has destroyed most American women, and feminism is the mechanism that protected, encouraged and expanded that hypocricy to literally psychotic levels. American men are fantastically supportive of women, yet are endlessly abused and treated lower than animals, by women who brag about acting lower than animals themselves and wage war on their own sons. It is a perfect storm of stupidity, perversion, and hatred that has left American women completely vulnerable to Leftist demagoguery and endless neurosis. They have become zombified Hillary clones, lost in a world of their own fear and self-loathing, choking down antidepressants and glued to their TV group behavioral programming - all so they'll vote for the Beast. If Hillary's Army ever wakes up to what they're leader has done to them and their families, they'd rip her to shreds - and the Bitch knows it.
good.
Great point. In Lott’s Freedomnomics he proves that giving women the vote increases government.
The article was too long and bringing that in would have suggested I opposes women’s suffrage which isn’t the case. Neither do I apologize because women didn’t have the vote previously though when you consider almost nobody in the world had the right to vote.
Thomas West’s Vindicating the Founders offers some great insights on the Founders views on women’s suffrage too.
Thanks
Had government not gotten involved, the family, and its natural, complementary roles, would have naturally adapted to changes in the workplace and economy.
But Feminism distorted the white family as much as Welfare distorted the black family.
Result = very few families made it through unscathed by the debacle of social engineeering.
The consequences of this are and will be enormous.
