Hello everyone!
it's time for my quarterly "What Are You reading Now?" survey. As you know, I consider Freepers to be among the more well-read of those of us out in cyberspace. As a result, I like to find out what you're reading.
It can be anything...a technical journal, a NY TImes bestseller, a trashy pulp novel, in short, it can be anything. Please do not defile this thread by posting "I'm reading this thread". It became very unfunny a long long time ago.
I'll start. I went to the library and picked up a copy of "Sam Walton, Made In America: My Story" by Sam Walton. I'm not the entreprenurial type myself and I'm only about 20% of the way thru the book - but I find it interesting how he built Wal-Mart to be such a powerhouse of a corporation. Some of the ideas he talks about can actually be put to use in almost any type of corporate environment.

It’s interesting to see how the religionists on the LCMS/ELCA temple steps squirm whilst attempting to “put the best possible construction” on ~that.
garden seed catalogs and biography of benjamin franklin. i really want to read more about all the founding fathers in the next few months.
If the Sam Walton story intrigues you, I highly recommend “Appetite for America” by Stephen Fried.
It tells the story of Fred Harvey, most known now as the creator of the Harvey Girls.

5000 is impressive... i already have pared down some of my printed volumes. as with most readers, over time my tastes have changed, and I no longer read much fiction...I gave away the vast majority of fiction paperbacks, etc that i owned at one time...am a bit more discriminating with the purchases these days.
hopefully, someday, my kids and grandkids will appreciate my collection.. :)

This is a vicious anti-Israel screed by professor at Tel Aviv University. You'll see lots of positive reviews at Amazon. None of them seem concerned that Sand dismisses Josephus to start and then quotes him constantly throughout. Sand sometimes seems to think the history in the Bible is made up and sometimes that it might be real but today's Jews are not descendants of the Biblical folks.
I had been reading this earlier but put it aside for a while to read Reclaiming the Dead Sea Scrolls by Lawrence Schiffman whom I took a course with during the fall. Sand has a fairly substantial index, but Dead Sea Scrolls is apparently not something he thinks relevant to his topic.
