WASHINGTON (AP) -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc. recalled about 2.2 million electric heaters Thursday after receiving reports of burn injuries and property damage from fire.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of "Flow Pro," "Airtech," "Aloha Breeze" and "Comfort Essentials" heaters sold at Walmart stores nationwide from December 2001 to October 2009

Flow Pro
out here in flyover country, that’s what’s known as a “barn heater”
Made in China I assume
Taiwan? Or China?
People that buy and use such devices are just begging to burn thier house down or die in a fire.
Another article says China.
I bought one for the basement and immediately took it back.
Talk about cheap, I think PEZ dispensers have more engineering behind them...
Otherwise, there is nothing wrong with this heater. I have several and they work just fine. They just require some shred of intelligence to use, as do all appliances if this type that provide this much heat.
For the life of me I cannot see how this heater can cause damage. It looks safer than a fireplace.
Try getting a space heater in FL right now. All the stores like Lowes and Target say - “we only order some because people bring em back when it warms up.”
These little heaters are not designed to be left on when you go to sleep. People are asking for trouble if they do that.
I have two of the Eden Pure heaters and they are worth their weight in gold. (And I know the value of gold, LOL!)
I have one in my bedroom and one in the downstairs bathroom. I turn the heat down to 55 at night in my 1906 farmhouse (lots of rooms are closed off; I don’t heat the whole thing!) and that space heater keeps my bedroom toasty-warm all night.
Nothing better than heating up the bathroom before you shower on a sub-zero winter morning, too. :)
Yes, they are expensive ($200 or so each), but Dad bought them for me a few years ago as a gift. They are electric, so they do push up the electric bill a little, but not by an unmanagable amount.
I thought about buying a heater like that. Moved to Florida instead. :)
Amen! An oil filled radiator is a much better alternative, but they heat up very slowly. Cheaper to operate and much, much safer.
A couple of nights ago a man was found dead in his house because he had an electric heater connected to a gasoline powered generator.
That's magor league stupid unless the dude wanted to remain warm while he commited suicide.
Millions of people buy those each year and don’t burn anything. It is improper usage (usually the heater is left too close to a flammable object) that causes a fire.
We used to use them at work until our maint. director, at the request of the office building management, put out a notice that they were no longer allowed in the building. A week later he and his guys came thru and confiscated all that hadn't been removed.
And you're right, those things are dangerous. I'd never have one in my house......
They should recall the customers that burned something up with them. Ban them from the store.
The only safe heater is one that does not produce heat. Also, remove the cord since it is a shock hazard. Just a plastic box with soft, rounded corners that says heater on it. No chance of injury with that.
Maybe even a “nerf” heater.
“Aloha Breeze” .. huh?
