Exploding the That Wasnt A Missile Myth
By Gargantua
What appeared to be a missile rose from below the horizon, streaking into the sky off of California leaving a condensation trail identical to the kind that have been filmed being left by a ground-or-sea-to-air launch of a Minuteman missile or ICBM.
First, the Government was inexplicably mum on the topic. Next came a series of sometimes contradictory explanations. Now, days after the event, the finally agreed-upon explanation hits every news station all at once. Its the con-trail of a jet returning from across the Pacific.
There are two glaring problems with this obviously false explanation.
First, the shape and density of the con-trail.
A missile launch would be more dense and wide at its base, just as we see in the images weve been shown. A jets con-trail would be thinner and smaller the further away as it trailed off toward the horizon. We see the opposite in the availale video footage.
Second, the lighting.
In the video footage, we see stratus clouds out over the ocean behind the rising missile. The setting sun is shining on, and illuminating, the bottom of those clouds. On the con-trail, however, the illumination from the sun appears on the right-hand-edge; just as it would if this were a launching missiles vertically rising con-trail. There is no illumination of the underside of the jets horizontally oriented con-trail because it is not a jets con-trail, it is a vertically-oriented missiles launch contrail with the sun lighting up the side away from us. Very obviously so.
The Government must think we are at least as stupid as they are if they think this lame explanation is going to fly.
;-\
My daughter says that scenario is next to impossible. I asked her.
Confound and drat!...!!!
Now I have to eat that tooth-hidden cyanide capsule, and all because of YOU!!!

There are no articles I’m aware of which explicitly mention that the US did *not* launch a large fleet of ASW planes from San Diego. Just as there are no articles I’m aware of which explicitly mention that NASA did *not* launch a space shuttle today.
Similarly I can find several articles on Obama’s India trip, but I don’t think any of them say “And he was *not* whisked to safety”. I kind of think that if he had been, they would have mentioned it.
I can find several articles on the disabled cruise ship. I don’t think any of them explicitly say “The carrier did not rush away.” I kind of think if they had suddenly stopped transporting food, the articles would have mentioned it.
Another Freeper used the quote “The dog that did not bark.” If the U.S. Government were in a panic about it, people would know. We’d have wives issuing prayer requests, reporters noticing lights on at offices, people calling to Rush about the military fleets, exclusion zones going up, ...
IOWs what he stated as fact is nothing but an empty speculation. Right?
>>In that case then the furthest west point of the contrail would be the last part to fall into shadow.<<
It is not falling into shadow. It is being blocked by thin haze, and quite a few miles of it, since it is so close to the horizon.
I was just in Hawaii and watched the sun do the exact same thing, regarding the haze. But since it is the sun, nobody interprets its reduction in light as “falling into shadow”.
People are looking at these videos with only one paradigm in mind. Try looking at the pictures and video and intentionally assume it is a rocket, and then try the same thing but intentionally assume it is an airplane. It should become pretty obvious to you which it is at that point. It did for me.
Actually it hasn't even had such capability for 20 years. You might remember that Clinton & Co. started selling them technology less than 20 years ago.
I think the most likely explanation for the missile that appeared near Los Angeles is again a Navy accident. There was a NOTAM prepared for the day after the missile sighting. Maybe the NOTAM issuers got the date wrong; or maybe the guys carrying out the scheduled exercised didn't know what day it was. Then it would make sense for another government cover-up. If it was some foreign action, I think a lot of our guys would have scrambled. That they didn't is evidence that this was something our military knew about in advance.

“But Doug Richardson, the editor of Janes Missiles and Rockets, examined the video for the Times of London and said he was left with little doubt.
“Its a solid propellant missile,” he told the Times. “You can tell from the efflux [smoke].”

But what does he know?
I have looked at every video and still pic anyone has linked to and then some. The more I see the more certain I am that it was a very big missile with a solid rocket motor. The contrail clearly passes in front of what you call haze.
If you believe its empty speculation, all you need to do is prove those things did happen. You were the one who seemed to doubt they were true - I’ll happily recant if you can prove them false.
It took a bit for me to figure out that the missile was an airplane. It took me a lot longer to figure out that this whole thread was created tongue in cheek.
Nice job. You got me! :)
Now you’re asking me to prove a negative. Is he speculating or does he have a source for what he said? That is a simple yes or no question.
Of course you have. There, there now. I say, here there... now then...
Next, you'll be asking us to believe that you can fly...
... no, wait! You already did that! Tell us, when you fly (snickering...) do you leave a con-trail?

Funniest post on the thread! :)
IOWs you are speculating based on a lack of information not stating a known fact.
Some really, REALLY ginormous sphincter types.
:-\
Actually it seems that a NOTAM was issued within minutes after this missile was videoed by the news chopper.
From the comments at the link on that thread...
Lorrie LaibleI find it intersting that no one claims to know about this. Yesterday we were returning from Honolulu on Hawaiian Airlines with an arrival time of 3:25 pm at LAX. Approximately 270 miles away our pilot came on the speaker and told us we would be rerouted over Big Sur California due to military maneuvers in our path. Maybe they should speak with the pilot of our flight.

>>The truth is that we do not know and probably never will know for certain. <<
Well, I actually agree with that in the vein that we don’t know “for certain” if we landed on the moon. ;)
Thing is, in your numbered points you are ignoring a lot of things we actually do know. And every one of them points to “airplane contrail”.
The light isn't coming through from behind the contrail, it is coming at a low angle ~underneath~ and lighting it from below. Just as a setting sun will sometimes light up the undersides of clouds.
lol - you are the one who called it into doubt. Its easy - to prove him wrong, all you need to do is show one of the following actually *did* happen:
“First, we do *not* have the U.S. Government reacting in a panic. A fleet of anti-submarine airplanes did *not* race out of San Diego to the potential launch site. The aircraft carrier helping the cruise ship did *not* divert to race to the area. Obama/Biden were *not* whisked away to safety.”
The threat level has not changed per my daughter. She says she would know before you and I did if had been raised. So this was no threat or show of strength by China or Russia, or anybody else for that matter.
