Exploding the That Wasnt A Missile Myth
By Gargantua
What appeared to be a missile rose from below the horizon, streaking into the sky off of California leaving a condensation trail identical to the kind that have been filmed being left by a ground-or-sea-to-air launch of a Minuteman missile or ICBM.
First, the Government was inexplicably mum on the topic. Next came a series of sometimes contradictory explanations. Now, days after the event, the finally agreed-upon explanation hits every news station all at once. Its the con-trail of a jet returning from across the Pacific.
There are two glaring problems with this obviously false explanation.
First, the shape and density of the con-trail.
A missile launch would be more dense and wide at its base, just as we see in the images weve been shown. A jets con-trail would be thinner and smaller the further away as it trailed off toward the horizon. We see the opposite in the availale video footage.
Second, the lighting.
In the video footage, we see stratus clouds out over the ocean behind the rising missile. The setting sun is shining on, and illuminating, the bottom of those clouds. On the con-trail, however, the illumination from the sun appears on the right-hand-edge; just as it would if this were a launching missiles vertically rising con-trail. There is no illumination of the underside of the jets horizontally oriented con-trail because it is not a jets con-trail, it is a vertically-oriented missiles launch contrail with the sun lighting up the side away from us. Very obviously so.
The Government must think we are at least as stupid as they are if they think this lame explanation is going to fly.

Blah blah blah. :)
You posted an opinion. I can get opinions from the IPCC experts that say man made global warming is gonna wipe us out.
I need a little more than that. And the video.
This is actually getting comical. Some “experts” are gonna have “career hangover” after the dust settles on this.
Yeah, I saw it yesterday on my way home from work. That's when I knew it wasn't a missile.
;-\
That reminds me, I need to make a trip to Home Depot...

>>I need some evidence that the editor of Janes was duped as you suggest.<<
His statement is evidence that he was either duped, or he doesn’t know what he is talking about.
As an editor, one needs only to be able to “edit” the work of the “experts” who write for their publication.
Thanks...
Uh-huh! And just how does it feel to need...?
;-\
Maybe the military was using that missile to intercept another incoming missile!
Your evidence is that he disagrees with you LOL!!
Actually, if you look at the photo, you can se the reflection is the brightest at the bottom of the contrail. You aren’t see it fall into shadow at all, the darkness across the full width of the bottom is low level haze in the foreground.
You may need to upgrade to Excel 2003. They have removed the previous limit of 65,536 lines.
“On the con-trail, however, the illumination from the sun appears on the right-hand-edge”....
Exactly!...same thing I noticed. But the gubmints telling me my eyes lie!
You could try some introspection. Try to examine your need to be a jack-ass.
The full video only lasts about a minute.
The time it took to lay down exposes that it is not an airplane. The news film begins when the contrail is about half the length it is by the end of the video. If it were an airplane it would take a couple of minutes to cover that much sky that far away. (To be an airplane contrail coming from the horizon it would have to be much further away than 35 miles even at the end of the video when it simply disappears from view.) The video shows it all being laid down in a few seconds.
Not so!
That's what I saw on Monday and Tuesday on my way home from work. Both contrails were in the same spot in the sky at the same time on both days.
IOW, it was Flt. 808, not a missile.
Let’s go through the evidence.
First, we do *not* have the U.S. Government reacting in a panic. A fleet of anti-submarine airplanes did *not* race out of San Diego to the potential launch site. The aircraft carrier helping the cruise ship did *not* divert to race to the area. Obama/Biden were *not* whisked away to safety.
Does this behaviour match an unannounced missile launch by an unknown party, or does it match an optical illusion?
Second, we do *not* have anyone gloating nor complaining about it. We do *not* have Russia angrily reminding us that ICBM launches must by treaty be announced in advance. We do *not* have Chinese news stations proudly announcing a successful test.
Does this behaviour match a missile launch within sight of US land, or does it match an optical illusion?
Third, we do *not* have any indication at all of where the hypothetical missle landed. We do *not* have amateur astronomers reporting “meteor” sightings along the possible track nor announcing a new satellite. We do *not* have reports of unexplained radar sightings. We do *not* have a recovery team scouring the area (any area) where it might have landed.
Does this behaviour match a missile launch which must come down somewhere, or does this behaviour match an optical illusion?
Fourth, we have testimony. NORAD claims it did not detect a missile launch. The FAA says its radar tracks don’t show any unexplained fast-moving objects. The pentagon says none of our forces launched anything and whatever it is isn’t a threat to us. The entire US military has the attitude of “Huh? I don’t show anything, do you?”.
Does this behaviour match a missile launch (possible cover story: “Routine test, nothing to be alarmed about”) or does it match an optical illusion?
Against this, we have a video of an pre-existing contrail. It’s hard to judge the speed of the object creating the contrail — it looks to me like the camera is jittering from the helicopter, and the actual object isn’t moving that quickly.
In short, now that more evidence has come forward, I consider the chance of this being a missile launch about as high as the chance that the mainstream media will announce the religion of the next terrorist.
so, i’m just a little rusty hence the spiraling of the contrail.
I noticed you signed up for FR on July 26, 2001. On the same day, CBS (who aired this contrail footage) ran a story about John Ashcroft taking commercial flights. The story included quotes from the CIA!
Coincidence? I think not...
