How the ultimate BP Gulf disaster could kill millions

Disturbing evidence is mounting that something frightening is happening deep under the waters of the Gulf of Mexico—something far worse than the BP oil gusher.

Warnings were raised as long as a year before the Deepwater Horizon disaster that the area of seabed chosen by the BP geologists might be unstable, or worse, inherently dangerous.

What makes the location that Transocean chose potentially far riskier than other potential oil deposits located at other regions of the Gulf? It can be summed up with two words: methane gas.

100,000 psi, just imagine the MPG you could get if the local gas station could get your tires that hard!

'cause it's fun!

At 900 btu's per cu/ft, a methane blast over the water would be exciting, but that's about all.

Sounds like the “geologists” that the article refers to are busy inhaling the “helium”.

I think this is a world-wide problem. The U.N. should create a consortium of scientific experts to study the problem before it kills millions, primarrily the minorities and the poor from developing nations. They should call the blue ribbon panel the “International petroleum crises consortium” or IPCC. Then we would know for certain that this is a real crisis and not just scaremongering to steal $20 Billion.

National Geographic had a show on methane/sea leaking some months back. I thin the speculation was a buildup in the sea, undetected, could pose catastrophic global event and may have done so in the past

It’s happening all over the world.
Some years back a lake “belched” in Africa and killed thousands
