Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) are considered to be the most important etiological agents of chronic gastritis. The eradication of H. pyloridepends on the combination of antibiotics and acid suppression drugs. Unfortunately, the side effects of antibiotics reduce the curative effect and treatment compliance. Probiotics provides an alternative method which can inhibit H. pylori infection efficiently without antibiotics associated side effects.
A research team from China investigated the potential anti-H. pylori and anti-inflammation in vivo effects of two lactobacillus strains from human stomach. Their study will be published on January 28, 2010 in the World Journal of Gastroenterology.
Their results illustrated that both lactobacillus strain Lactobacillus fermenti (L. fermenti) and Lactobacillus acidophilus (L. acidophilus), showed significant anti-H. pylori activity, while strain L. fermenti displayed more efficient antagonistic activity in vivo whose efficacy is close to the standard triple therapy, thus significantly improving the H. pylori-associated Balb/c gastritis.
Their study provided a new clue for the therapy of H. pylori associated diseases, which could be prevented and treated by regulating the balance of flora in stomach. Thus lactobacillus can be a choice to replace antibiotics or as an adjuvant to antibiotics in treating H. pylori-infected diseases.

Gut garden ping.
I suspect the New World Order/Shadow Government is behind the Black Helicobacters.
This knda goes with the Pelosi thread a couple up, doesn’t it?
cute!
No, it's The Collective. Don't tell anyone.
Acidophilus works. I’ve taken acidophilus capsules for the past 3 years. I was suffering from various GI problems for years. Acidophilus has been almost a miracle cure for me.
I took a prescription with high amounts of bismuth [pepto-bismol] for H. pylori, which is the bacteria that produces ulcers. Bismuth is one of the few things that works against H. pylori.
It didn’t help the gastritis, however. Neither did the $4/daily prescription of Aciphex the doctor tried.
After 4 years of suffering from the gastritis, I tried herbals based on an old Chinese homeopathic remedy.
I took 2 capsules of ginger root, 2 of licorice root, 2 of fennel seeds, and 1 of clove morning, mid-day, evening for two days. Then reduced the amount to 1 capsule of each herbal twice a day for about 3 days. That did more in 5 days to relieve the gastritis than the high-dollar prescriptions the doctors had me on.
Now, whenever the gastritis flairs up, I take 1 capsule of each twice a day for 2-3 days, and it settles the gastritis.
“Acidophilus works.”
.........and it is very inexpensive. Supposedly, 70% of our immune systems are in our gut.

thanks decimon
Me too, caused from taking arthritis drugs, I take probiotic gold which is the stronger ones. Anyone who takes an antibiotic should also take Acidophilus to restore the good bacteria in the gut. Keeps yeast infections in the mouth down and for females this is especially a necessary step.
Micro ping, comment# 11 has links to 3 more press releases, 2 with URL to original articles. A simple author search at PubMed finds the last. The original papers are FReebies.
We veterinarians had been saying for years ( first reported in 1957) that a bacterium was the cause for ulcers in pigs...the porcine ulcers responded to tetracyclines, lactobacillus, and antacids.
Ping...(thanks, neverdem!)
