OK, it's time for my quarterly What Are You Reading Now? survey.
I do this because I like to gauge what Freepers are reading. I believe that the Freeper community are one of the more well-read on the Internet.
What are you reading? It can be anything...a classic novel, a NY Times bestseller, a technical journal, a trashy pulp novel - in short, anything.
Please do not defile this thread by replying "I'm Reading This Thread". It became unfunny a long time ago.
I'll start. I'm reading "Pickett's Charge: A Microstudy" by George R Stewart. It was written in 1959 and is a classic read about the last day of the battle of Gettysburg. It was his only book about the Civil War but he wrote many others.
Well, what are you reading?
It was all I hoped it would be and very revealing of the character of the author. Some parts need to be re-read.
Oh yea forgot I’m reading Square Foot Gardening off and on as well.
“Going Rogue”! I got it for CHristmas from our youngest son! I’d started reading Jose Saramago’s, “Blindness”, but ran out of time and had to get it back to the Library. We’d seen the movie, and liked it, so I was curious about the book on which it was based. I’ll have to get it again, sometime.
Holy Blood, Holy Grail ... Just finished the latest installment in the Wheel of Time series ... and Constantine.
rereading Richard Weaver’s Ideas Have Consequences, also Norman Podhoretz’ Why are Jews Liberals? and Thomas Sowell’s new one “Intellectuals and Society” all highly recommended.
A Perfect Mess and An Inconvenient Book
I am also reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett. Growing up in Jackson and being a member of the Jr League for the last 30+ years, I think I knew/know some of these people....and their maids.
“Going Rogue” which I got for Christmas.
Frank Sheed’s “Theology for Beginners”
Pindar’s ODES. I’m still in a classical mood — hope to read AENID as well as Ovid & some of the Greek/Roman plays.
The Woman Who Attracted Money....best mystery ever
John Warwick Montgomery
Now there’s a blast from the past. I took a class from him once. Have a few of his books packed away somewhere.
“My Grandfather’s Son” by Clarence Thomas
Just finished “Frontier Woman” by Zane Grey.
“Just finished “The Road” by Cormac McCarthy”
Now there’s a cheerful book....
I hear it’s been made into a movie.
“What did you think of The Road?”
It’s the very definition of ‘grim’.
Signature in the Cell: DNA and the Evidence for Intelligent Design by Stephen C. Meyer
