SAN LUIS, Colo.A creepy string of calf mutilations in southern Colorado has a rancher and sheriff's officials mystified.
Four calves were found dead in a pasture just north of the New Mexico state line in recent weeks. The dead calves had their skins peeled back and organs cleared from the rib cage. One calf had its tongue removed.
But rancher Manuel Sanchez has found no signs of human attackers, such as footprints or ATV tracks. And there are no signs of an animal attack by a coyote or mountain lion. Usually predators leave pools of blood or drag marks from carrying away the livestock.
Two officers from the Costilla County Sheriff's Office have investigated the mutilations but say they don't know what's killing the calves.

Back to the future. This stuff was happening 30 years ago in the same area.

Showing your age? LOL
was raised in the valley and remember this happening.
The valley has always had more than its share of strange occurances dealing with animals and also sitings of UFOS.
Some say the government has a secret location by the Sand Dunes and they carry out secret testing. Some of the tests include animals and they just use the nearest farm animals. Other tests include expirmental airplanes.
Since the valley is secluded, surrounded by mountains on all sides, and not heavily populated it provides a perfect place.

This goes on in Dulce, New Mexico, too. It’s not far from San Luis.

This all goes back to the 1950’s when the Eisenhower administration made the deal with the space aliens that if they would share their technology with us, they could mutilate all the cows they pleased.

I wouldn't doubt it was wolves or coyotes. From what I've read wolves will often team up on prey and have one go for the face and take the tongue out. Other times predators will just rip a belly open, and often times will only eat certain organs.

--about thirty five years ago, a sheriff in the southeast, IIRC, got tired of having to have a deputy go check every animal carcass.
He arranged to have a timelapse movie made of a cow carcass as several days passed.
The resulting movie was usually enough to convince viewers that nothing unusual had happened to "their" carcass---

1959 in the Tomichi Valley I saw lights on aircraft I couldn't explain then or now. We lived close enough to the San Luis Valley to make me go “Hummmm”!
