High definition, the final frontier. Where nerds can boldly go where no moviegoer has gone before. With the Blu-ray release of the "Star Trek" movie prequel, these brave fans can obsess over the film's tiny details, including whether or not a very famous robot had a cameo that nobody noticed.

Nice catch!
Ingenious way to market a movie.
Good opportunity to post that I absolutely loved that movie. Saw it 4 times in the theatre and already own the dvd. A masterful job of creating a great all new film and blending in tons of material from the Star Trek series and movies.
I just passed the DVD in WalMart and thought about getting it, but resisted. Any interesting extras on it to make it worth buying?
It was the first movie I saw during the summer before Transformers and was worth it. I have it as an MP4 version on my laptop as well.
Its a must have DVD, its like a historical event.
I have it on Bluray and you have this interactive menu of all the ships systems.
It will be interesting to see how the sequels play out, my guess is that JJ Abrams wants to parody Star Wars as much as he can but still have the basic Star Trek canon. Myself I wish they would start filming it like when they did Lord of the Rings, they filmed the complete movie all at once and then sent it out in three timed sections. This must be at least a once a year movie release, I have seasons 1 and 2 of the original series on Bluray and its amazing the added detailed and remastered images.
But this is the first of many new Star Treks so in the future they might have a bundle price.
Bump
This sort of thing happens with some frequency. Some other examples:
The Millennium Falcon was painted black and placed on its end as a building in Blade Runner.
The USS Enterprise NCC 1701 was dimly in the background in the civilian fleet of the new Battlestar Galactica.
The main characters from the West Wing were listed on a casualty list on Star Trek Voyager. RIP Commander J Bartlett.
Mickey Mouse is one of the critters in Gremline. Seen from the rear as the Gremlins are gathered in the theater.
When Spock and Kirk confront V’ger in space outside the Enterprise and the clouds shift form, momentarily it takes the form of Miss Piggy.
In the first 30 seconds or so of Star Wars: episode 3 Anakin’s and Obi-wans jedi fighters are seen streaking through a chaotic space battle. Suddenly, something small flies across the screen, crashing into a star destroyer. Evidently George Lucas had seen an initial cut of that sequence and remarked “wow, you’ve got everything in there but the kitchen sink!”. And , of course the people at ILM took those words to heart. So, in the final cut of that sequence, that small object impacting the star destroyer is, you guessed it, a kitchen sink.
The DVD’s all have a gag reel I haven’t watched it yet. Some have a version for your PC or MAC. The deluxe one at target is in a package that becomes the Enterprise. I think they all have a discussion w JJ Abrams.
Star Trek and Doctor Who have a number of running "in jokes" and in ET, the line "this isn't fantasy, this is reality" (response to "can't he just beam up") was responded to by Kirk (I think STIII) "this isn't reality, this is fantasy"
0_o Uh, the jock bullies were right, I am a geek!
I knew this group of nerds back in day (80's) that always pulled pranks on each other. And when they/we were graduating high school, the military recruiters were very interested in the nerd sect, especially, the emerging computer nerd...
One day, there's a knock at the door, two sharp military guys are standing there, excited to speak with Mr. "Sy Burman"...
