I have just returned to the lodge with a heavy heart. My wife's mother - in every sense the matriarch and glue that held together a very large, close family - passed away today, at 4:30 PM EST. She had been admitted to the hospital last night after side-effects from her first chemotherapy treatment earlier this week, as a precaution against the recurrence of a very aggressive form of cancer that was surgically removed two months prior. This morning, she suffered total cardiac and respiratory arrest, and as the result of anoxia, her higher brain function and internal organs began to shut down. The pain and heartbreak we all felt in the chapel as her family gave her doctors the go-ahead to terminate life-support was palpable. I ask all my Freeper friends to say a little prayer for strength for them on this day, and God bless.
I am sorry viking. The roughest days for families are when a member leaves for heaven. I will pray for you and your wife and the rest of your family. May God wrap all of you in His complete love.
Sad, very sad. We lost our matriarch in 1990 to breast cancer. A truly lovely lady. We miss her so much.
Prayers for you as well as your wife, and her side of the family.
May the Lord be with your mother in law and with her family. And also with your family!
May The Lord bless you and keep you; May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace. |

Very sorry for your great loss.
Prayers, Viking, for you and your extended family, during this very sad and difficult time. I pray your wife and her family will carry forward Sadie’s spirit, and continue the close binds that she forged for them. I pray they find comfort in knowing that Sadie is in God’s home, free of all her pain and suffering.
Prayers Up!
I’m so sorry, Viking.
Prayers on the way for her eternal rest, and for the comfort and consolation of her friends and family.
Viking, I am so sorry your family has suffered this loss. Cancer is so cruel. Two years ago my youngest uncle (54) passed away from gall bladder cancer that spread agressively. By the time they found the trouble, he was nearly at stage 4.
A few of my favorite sciptures to help you and yours...
Matthew 26:13 “What this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.”
Psalm 33:17 “Your eyes will see the King in His beauty and the highland of Heaven far away.”
2 Corinthians 5:8 “Sorrow not as them who have no hope, for we know that to be absent from the body is to be present with The Lord.”
Proverbs 31:30-31 “Favor is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman that feareth The Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her at the gates.”
Proverbs 31:10 “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.”
God bless you and your family Viking.
I’ll add a request for the Repose of Sadie’s soul, and peace for your family, on our Parish’s Prayer list next week.
God is with your family. So sorry for your loss.
