Scientists have long suspected that the sex chromosome that only males carry is deteriorating and could disappear entirely within a few million years, but until now, no one has understood the evolutionary processes that control this chromosome's demise. Now, a pair of Penn State scientists has discovered that this sex chromosome, the Y chromosome, has evolved at a much more rapid pace than its partner chromosome, the X chromosome, which both males and females carry.
This rapid evolution of the Y chromosome has led to a dramatic loss of genes on the Y chromosome at a rate that, if maintained, eventually could lead to the Y chromosome's complete disappearance....

I’ve been trying to completely disappear for a long time, but it’s not working out well for me.
Odd choice of words, hysteria, given the context of this thread. We may have no alternative in a few million years.

By what leap of logic can they assume that lost genes are unimportant and retained genes are important?

Say what? This article and the underlying research(if this article accurately reflects the research)is utter nonsense. Notice there is no actual proof that there was a X Y split. That is there are no examples of humans ever not having x y chromosomes. The researchers assume this split since there are other mammals that do not have it. Having assumed the split by accepting the assumption that all mammals were at one time had the same chromosomes they go on to the logical assumption that the X and Y chromosomes started with the same number of genes.
Since modern man's Y chromosome has less genes than his X chromosome the genes can assumed to have been lost. Since man has survivied then the logical assumption is that the genes were not important.
And since most of the genes have been lost it is logical to assume that the rest will be lost as well. But oh well, some other chromosome will play that roll...right?
This distorts Darwinian evolution beyond recognition and comprehension.
I wouldn’t suggest that those traits would go away.
It may be very hard to guide a fertilized egg to make a boy or a girl, but it is extremely hard, and takes a lot of chromosomes, to help create the foundations for their character. And even that doesn’t come close to the degree of difficulty of years of training, teaching, guiding and criticism that leads to a person who has character.
They didn’t say that life would be easy.

In other words, if this happens another chromosome would replace the Y chromosome and do the same job. So there's no need to worry.
wouldn’t that be de-evolution ?

Why are we Deteriorating? Isn’t that kind-of the reverse of what we have in mind (picture thinking) when we were taught evolution?

For RINOs, its more like a “Why?” chromosome.

Y'know, since you frame it that way, I could almost start believing in evolution.
Evolutionists keep telling us that evolution is the addition of information.
As far as I know, they claim that de-evolution isn't occurring.
