If I were to buy any ammo to replace all the expended rounds, I think I’d use cash for the buys. Then shoot it immediately so the inventory was zero.

I might have jumped the gun no pun intended. I got this from the NRA page on Team Sarah.
I went to snopes and they said it is undetermined.

"First they'll have to find the existing ammo. Then they'll have to dig the rounds out of their carcasses...."

Yup, sadly they have misread the climate and are over-reaching.
Not that they won't accomplish their gun/ammo-ban agenda, but that it will get very messy - THAT is what they don't realize.

Another case of a company that “invents” a technology, then tries to shove it down our throats by using the iron hand of government....

Which politicians own the company?

Most hand loaders buy range brass that is once fired.

Unless they ban reloading the law would be worthless. Crooks would just buy reloads.

Ammo is already taxed. There are built-in taxes to support wildlife on ammo and firearms. Further, we pay sales tax on the purchase. This is another tax intended to drive ammo out of the range of affordability. It may start at 5 cents a round. Plan on it being driven up until you can afford it. Politicians never remove a tax. Stop it NOW.

In every case of the states listed above the legislation either failed or did not come up for a vote (check the link). Not saying that it is impossible (especially in places like CA and IL), but this has ZERO chance of being passed in any southern state.

Further, it attempts to criminalize the possession of your existing ammunition inventories ...

You can have my existing ammunition inventory when you come and get it ... one bullet at a time.

First they'll have to find the existing ammo.

Some possibilities:

The government will require indoor and outdoor ranges to verify only legal ammo is used.

Hunters will have to show purchase records of legal, serial number ammo in order to obtain a hunting license.

Game wardens, state police and others will be authorized to make random ammo checks of hunters, farmers and others carrying weapons, drivers of cars carrying game, etc.

Authorities will probably authorize and pay gun shops and ranges to be collection points for non-serial number ammo.

There will be severe penalties for those in possession of non-serial number ammo. It will be considered a violation as severe as owning a machine gun.

They will require retail and wholesale sellers to provide records of past ammo purchases.

We will probably see media reports on the dangers of old ammunition, especially in large quantities. People will be encouraged to report "dangerous caches" of old, non-serial number ammo.

State law enforcement will be battering down doors and making high profile, front page, 6 o'clock news arrests of contraband ammo owners in order to condition the public to the "threat" of these lawbreakers.

Later on there will probably be an effort to pass laws limiting the amount of ammo that can be purchased at one time and the number of rounds you can have in your possession.

> Most hand loaders buy range brass that is once fired.

Aye, but the proposed legislation calls for the marking to be on the base of the projectile, not on the brass.

It still would annoy the hell out of law abiding people and make shooting more expensive, but it doesn’t look like it would stop hand loading.

LOL, allow me to clarify... 5 cents per round is not a huge tax when considering large calibers, which can be almost a buck a round. A 5-10% tax is surprisingly low for the Dems. Personally, ANY ammo tax is offensive and moronic, as are the rules for ammo encoding (as if the bad guys won’t just use the newly-created black market to get “clean” ammo which can be easily and cheaply made by anyone with reloading equipment, etc).

um I beg to differ. 2000 rounds of .22 would be 100.00. I don't call that insignificant. 300 rounds .45 15.00. It's already expensive enough and I'm not giving them more money for it. Reload you own, tell them to go black off

Gonna be a busy 4 years! Defending against these fluffy bunnies and their fluffy legislation while trying to make a living is going to be two full time jobs.

Some folk are going to have to decide:

“sea-kitten or bifurcate sea-kitten attractive treats!”

and now for something completely different....

In IL these are all OLD BILLS that died in Committee. All the effective dates - if passed - were Jan, 1, 2009. A little late for that.

Don't know about the other states but this is old news. The RATS always attempt this in every session.

I wonder what the Capitol building would look like with 8 million gun-owners outside. I wonder how the DCPD and the SS woiuld handle it.

Congress had better get a grip. They are not safe because they are politicians in Wash, D.C. Piss off too many of us they could find out what a real revolution looks like.

This is what the propane industry did several years ago

Good one, I had forgotten, except I still have one of the old ones that is yet full. Then we can talk toilets, vehicles, guns, light bulbs, freon, etc, etc, tools being called weapons, firecrackers equal explosives, and on and on and on.

How much longer before we either forget the intrusion, or finally end it?

Arizona has turned it down, according to postings here last week.

IF NObama and his cohorts succeed in taking away the ammo- what will become of the following:
1. Hunters in every state and all the fees they pay? State conservation departments work hard to balance the amount of animals that populate any area, and hunting pays for lots of those efforts, along with weeking the population as necessary.
2. Guides who make a business of taking hunters into new areas and are hard working and tax paying Americans.
3. Lodges and Inns which accomodate the above.
4. L L Bean, Cabela’s, and Scheel’s- they sell millions of dollars of goods every year to hunters. Sales taxes on those items support the surrounding area with lots of dollars.
5. Suppliers to #4. Jobs, commerce, income taxes, etc.....
6. Ranchers who need to keep predators away from their sheep and cattle. There isn’t a sheep herder anywhere in this country that doesn’t have a .22 rifle to kill coyotes. Is NObama going to recompense all those ranchers for lost livestock, the foundation of their ranches which make them a living??????

Bottom line: only the criminals will have the guns and the ammo.

When someone hides same and gets attacked in their home—Castle Doctrine—will the homeowner be arrested for having the weapons to defend himself and his family? The perp walks or can sue the homeowner for protecting the family?

Will NObama demand that Castle Doctrines that various states have passed???

This is a hard step into BIZZARO WORLD-—the place where NObama and the Liberals seem to feel most comfortable.
Everything is backwards with these people.....
