Are you really lazy? Would you rather just sit around the house and watch TV all day instead of actually producing and trying to contribute to society? In the political world many conservatives would call those people Democrats but they may have now finally have found an excuse for their lifestyle of living off other people's hard work and money. It is the laziness gene.

New Excuses for Workers: Laziness Gene is Discovered

Is there really a laziness gene? Dr. Sanjay Gupta explained it this way on CNN, "Well, there is some preliminary research now actually looking at this very issue. And since the human genome has been mapped, now, people have been looking at the genome for all sorts of excuses, if you will, for different things, and this may be yet another one of them."

When I was about twelve my father and grandfather took me out to a field to help load firewood into a truck. While they were BSing, I started tossing logs into the truck two at a time. My dad said to my grandfather, “They say if you want to find the quickest way to do something, get a lazy person to do it”. Even at twelve I knew that they were wrong.

I used to ride to work with a guy who would call in sick from the pay phone in the break room. LOL

“Would you rather just sit around the house and watch TV all day...”

TV hosts take themselves with too much regard for what they do today. TV may have always been a vapid wasteland but now it isn’t even entertaining; just 24-7 infomercials/infotainment talking heads and noisy ads.

I hate it that all cable turns to infomercials at 4:00am.

It isn’t always about speed. If the logs were to be stacked to maximimize storage and reduce the load shifting around down the highway, throwing them in 2 at a time may be quicker but the wrong way to go about doing the job.

Oh great...just what the dimwits need...validation! Seems more likely to me that they just got it mixed up and it's really the dumbsh!t gene they've found...but I guess they're one in the same!

broadcast tv turns to infomercials after midnight and sometimes even by noon on weekends.

It’s right next to the “free giveaway” gene.

Why isn’t slothfulness one of those “diversity” things that my employer “values”?

Laziness Gene discovered in every mammal on earth.

We all are lazy, it’s takes an effort not to be.

Even dogs and cats can be lazy. Some are more hyper than others, but we can all be spoiled to laziness as well.

It must be genetic as I know it usually follows after a very productive parent (usually in the form of a lot of money)--lol. That would be me (my family was just middle class, but we had a huge Irish, Catholic family) and most of my friends (mostly wealthy or upper middle class). Although we are all productive, none of us could hold a candle to our parents' (from the great generation!) diligence, suffering, and hard work over the very, very long term.

Summary: My generation and below are basically lazy in comparison.

I also know people that are great contributors in areas that are not considered productive, but process for long periods and then put out amazing output. That is another animal.

No they were right on the money. Most of the great inventions were from lazy people trying to make life easier. Who do you think invented the wagon that eventually evolved into the truck you loaded those logs in? Some lazy SOB that got sick of carrying logs by hand.

The Great Left Wing Conspiracy at work trying to destroy Western Civilization again...Nothing new.

Now the productive people must excuse the lazy because “it’s not their fault” and “they are born that way”. Bonuses and promotions should now be skewed in favor of the useless, and customers / clients must accept crap work under the guise of the presence of a “laziness gene” being the culprit.

So if my genes make me very unattractive, is society on the hook for making me attractive again? Just think of all the moronic and inane excuses that can come from this analysis of “genes” to explain failure.

Of course they were talking while I was working.

Letting somebody else do it was the first work saving invention of mankind. We didn’t start inventing cool things like plows and carts and water wheels until we couldn’t find any suckers.
