I guess G-d does have a sense of humor.
I hope Mr. Leigh recovers soon.

Good to hear that he has since made a full recovery, which is often not the case.

Mike Leigh's famous comedy Abigail's Party

I consider myself fairly well-informed but I have never heard of the famous comedy nor have I heard of the playwright.

Actor collapses on stage for real during heart attack scene

Did this ever happen to Redd Foxx?

They should have a safe word (like Palomino) to let the others know that it is for real and not just an act.

There is probably still some critic who would pan the scene for lacking in realism.

That’s how Dick Shawn went too. He dropped dead on stage, and everyone thought it was part of his act.

Well, I (almost) feel bad now. I just read this in Wikipedia about Redd Foxx (and yes, I know all the warnings about Wikipedia):

During a break from rehearsals on October 11, 1991, a fatal heart attack felled him on the set. Reportedly, Reese and the rest of the cast and crew thought he was doing his classic (and in this case, ironic) "I'm coming, Elizabeth" fake heart attack routine he made famous on Sanford and Son, even going as far as collapsing to the floor, although that was not part of the usual schtick.[3] However, this heart attack was real, and Foxx never regained consciousness.
