OK. A little while ago we adopted a beautiful male cat from the animal shelter. We dutifully had him neutered, got him the required shots and began to care for him. About a week or so ago, the cat is leaving some serious odor from his "marking" (spraying). My wife, is having a major problem with this and says the cat has got to go.
We are moving into a new home in a few weeks and she does not want to have to clean after this cat. I know my kids will be heart broken over this, but she is resolute. Perhaps adoption by another party? She thinks we can return it to the shelter. I wasn't so sure about this, so I am asking other cat owners for advice.
You can have their scent gland removed, do this and he won’t be able to spray any more.....
Just a thought.
Cats are really good for target practice.
Is “marking” something only done be female cats? We have two male cats and have not such problems. (Now about scratching everything they can get their claws into...)
Sounds like the answer.
Either get him neutered or chuck his sorry ass out the door.. that is, the car door, when you are far from your house.
don’t forget the woodchipper.
LOL...just kidding...I'm not sure what to do...good luck...
Sometimes a cat will do this if it has developed a kidney problem...usually from what it is eating. This is curable. Check with your vet.
"Rock, paper, scissors? Whose idea was that? How does paper beat rock, exactly, in the real world? It should be 'cat, tinfoil, microwave.' That makes sense."
I do know that the animal shelter that I work with will accept any animals they adopt back. In fact they much prefer. You do not get your money back if it has been longer than a few weeks. I encourage you to contact them and see if they have a similar program.
He was neutered.
Cat “marks” house; homeowner “marks” cat.
Cat “marks” house again; homeowner “marks” cat again.
Cat tires of being “marked”, takes to watching soaps.
And I was going to ask the rhetorical question: “You don’t want to hear from us dog lovers, do you?” You guys!
If George Bush would seal the borders this kind of thing wouldn’t happen.
Seriously though... got a litter box?
Kitty fajitas
Are there any authentic Chinese restaurants in the neighborhood?
How long is “a little while ago”?...............I think the behaviour is hormone related and it my take a while for the supply to run out..............
