Did Humans Evolve? Not Us, Say Americans
New York Times ^ | 08/15/2006

In surveys conducted in 2005, people in the United States and 32 European countries were asked whether to respond “true,” “false” or “not sure” to this statement: “Human beings, as we know them, developed from earlier species of animals.” The same question was posed to Japanese adults in 2001. The United States had the second-highest percentage of adults who said the statement was false and the second-lowest percentage who said the statement was true, researchers reported in the current issue of Science. Only adults in Turkey expressed more doubts on evolution. In Iceland, 85 percent agreed with the statement.

The evos on FR will come on here and tell us we're all a bunch of slackjawed yokels for disbelieving their 19th Century mystery religion, but they should be forced to explain why it is that whenever they start losing the argument, they hire the ACLU to go out to sue someone to impose their views on the rest of us. They travel in suspicious circles.

Please provide links where any FR member has engaged the ACLU.

Please define "suspicious circle."

Please explain why purposeful ignorance and the dumbing down of America some sort of success to be celebrated.

Exactly. There is really nothing more to say.

So therefore we should eschew science? I don't see the connection.

Does this Genecidal/Biblical approach mean that we must also no longer use telescopes to determine the end of the known universe? No longer do dating since the Earth is ony 6,000 years old?

I am a little slow tonight.
Join the club...I goofed on reading a post earlier this evening!

What does this post mean?

Oh, it's just an off-hand comment, saying that with the likes of
the beasts on that list...evolution of humans may be headed in reverse.
That is, becoming more like predatory animals and less like humans.

But then that's not fair to predatory animals...as they do their
work just to survive.
Well, except for the well-fed housecat playing with a mouse...

I don't know that they have personally engaged the ACLU, but they sure have celebrated the ACLU's involvement.

Yawn, Yawn, Yawn

Another example of when the polls disagree with me they must be false, but when they agree with me they are of course true.

For one, Science isn't done by polls

But if we are to go by polls, then we must go by the only polls that matter, and the only ones that matter are the ones done on election day, and EVERYTIME the election was about science & progress vs mythology & superstition, the Creationist Luddites have went down in humiliating defeats.

The Democrats have had polls showing they are going to take back congress every year since 1995, and look how it's turned out, those polls matter(ed) as much as this one.

And it's not hard to see why, to the average Joe Shmoe out there the Mythology-Evolution debate is the furtherest thing from their mind, so when the poll taker calls out of the blue they haven't really thought it through. When it becomes an issue and people see the lies and ignorance offered by the Creationist they flat out reject them big time and vote to keep science in the 21st century not the 10th.

I see a correlation between people who believe in Socialism and people who believe in Evolution.

There's also the correlation between people who are threatened by evolution and Islamic theocracies.

"we're all a bunch of slackjawed yokels"

This characterization applies only to those Californians who have devolved. :-)

I don't put much faith in polls for two reasons. Polls can be rather biased, and Americans are pretty stupid. If a third of the people think Bush blew up the World Trade Center instead of Osama, who's on tape claiming credit for it, and if 25% don't know where the Pacific Ocean is, then I'm not sure if it matters "what Americans think." It's obvious that a huge percentage don't think.

You have yet to deny it btw. Do you deny it?

I don't know if I want to spend a lot of time getting links that you will either reject or marginalize. It is really not that big of a deal to me whether you accept it or not. Its there if you have followed the threads, thats all.

I again politely ask -- please provide links supporting this assertion.

It's a very simple equation. People who accept evolution are, by definition, socialists.
