Internet Dating:

Meeting the Parents:

Now, for some fun questions to kick off tonight’s thread!

1. Have you been on a date with someone you met on the Internet?
2. Did the date go well? Did a relationship result?
3. Did you meet them on a dating site or elsewhere? Was it totally by accident or chance?
4. Do you have a funny, gross, scary, or otherwise entertaining internet dating story to share? Either one that happened to you, or someone you know.
5. Any funny or interesting “meeting the parents” stories?
6. Has meeting the parents ever caused a breakup?
7. And, finally, have you ever set up a “backup” scenario to get out of a potentially bad date?

I let the machine take a message, but I did call back (and got her VM) to say I have drafted a three page letter detailing what took place over the last two months, and if she'd like a copy of it to please call me with her email address.

She hasn't called back.

BTW, an old recruiter called and may have a job for me at another company soon. He's in the process of scheduling a phone interview for Monday or Tuesday.

Exciting? Well, I get to do things I don't usually do during the winter months, so that's fun. How about you?

He's pretty good, but you know what, it's almost impossible to get his songs online. Wonder why.

Uh-huh.

Okay, you tell me...why is a lawsuit necessary?

I tried to do something about it. But the boss lied about everything, denying anyone had threatened me ,and no one else would stand by me. With no leg to stand on, I just crawled away.

Remember, that was 19 years ago. I was still a kid.

I would NOT have "taken things so lightly", nowdays.

He deliberately goes out of his way to avoid mass-marketing his CDs. They're produced through an obscure record label called Vanguard or something like that.

He once said that his music is aimed at "real cowboys," so his goal is "to sell hundreds -- not millions -- of them."

In such a case, the VICTIM is the one who is blamed and usually left with no choice but to leave.

BINGO.

I see this happen time and time again. The company finds that it is 10 times easier to let the "complainer" just go, and not deal with or address the harassment. It saves them time and money in the short run, but not the long run when high-turnover starts costing them serious money and productivity goes way down. Only then does the company finally deal with the situation.

I believe that the internet is the WORST possible venue for "meeting" people, no matter the gender.

I've had bad luck on the internet, but I've had bad luck everywhere. One thing I've found that recommends the internet is that the dynamics change. The guy who takes full advantage of being slick in real life often falls on his face when people read the substance of what he has to say. When his words are written and not spoken, people realize that he has no substance, and those of us who are not so smooth have a better chance.

The only people that I have met on the internet that I carry on regular conversations with are other men.

My experiences have been the opposite. I've met many women with whom I could have very good conversations. They've been intelligent and interesting. We haven't been able to make a connection, but the conversation is good. In many cases, there's just too much distance and difference in age.

Bill

Sorry to hear about your problems at work - not nice if people have issues with what you wear there are right and wrong ways to go about it and obviously they went about it the wrong way.

Also you strike me as someone (from your posts) who would wear what is appropriate.

That's why I have such a hard time to find his songs online. Man! But he definitely can sing, that's for sure. I like the way he delivers his songs.

I doubt it.

She is old enough to be my mother. She has 4 daughters in my age group, all but one married.

Also, SOME of it may not be over our"discussions", which SHE started.

Her one daughter and her have NOT been getting along very well at ALL lately. Her daughter talks very nastily toward her and does not respect her mother very much. So, that no doubt is causing some of her "attitude" toward me.

Also, one of her friends is leaving the area in about a month, as her husband is relocating to D.C, for a LESSER paying job, according to her. She is upset about that, too.

I cannot stand HR departments I always think individual department should cover this I know in a big organisation it can be difficult but HR people do not appreciate individual job situations.

Necessary would be your word.

Frivolous lawsuits are one thing. I hate them. However, no one deserves to lose their job because someone has decided to not like/respect them.
