Yeah, Cherry Ridge.
Reading that site you linked makes my blood boil. I want to go off in a frothing rant.
It's labelled about handguns, but every other sentance goes on about rifles and shotguns.

The base of Cadillac Mountain rises almost directly from the Atlantic. That mountian has an elevation of 1532 feet. My whole town is at 1250 and the peaks around hit over 1500. Highpoint runs up to 1803 feet.

Quote from the Traveling Wilburys: In Jersey everything's legal / as long as you don't get caught.

The original article stated that the STATE of New Jersey has the highest point on the Atlantic Seaboard. That has not changed and is indeed still true.
Various Ridge lines run almost to the hudson river, it just keeps getting higher and higher, the further west you get.
Still not sure what that has to do with proximity to the coast or what my town has to do with anything. The eastern border of NJ is Ocean for the most part. The whole state is only 60-70 miles wide at the widest point, less than 40 at the narrowest.

The Irish make gravy too. They add butter at the end before serving. And the best corned beef I ever ate (the Irish kind) was made by an FBI.

Can't leave this thread without commenting on Taylor Ham/Taylor Pork Roll. I first had this on a boyfriend's boat out chumming for bluefish on the Atlantic. I don't think that's the only reason I love it, though. If you have the patience to fry it slowly, like bacon, it makes the most unbelievable sandwich on white bread known to man. All the NYC delis have stopped stocking it, one by one, probably because nobody here knows what it is any more. But you can order it on the Internet.

Can you hear me now?

Can you hear me now? Yes. Highlands NJ is 200 feet high right at the beach.
To get those same elevations at Cadillac Mountain, you have to be 3-4 tenths a mile off the beach.
Definition of Seaboard is "Along the coast". Definition of coast is where the ocean meets the land.
Forget what I posted earlier about highpoint and my town, I mis-interpreted the statement. For elevation, RIGHT AT THE BEACH, Highlands NJ(which is a shore town) is higher than around Cadillac Mountain. Once you get in half a mile or so, it clearly Cadillac Mountain is higher.

Can't stay away from this thread.
One of your grandparents got a job from Frank Hague or Hugh Addonizio.
We lived in a house that had lots of fancy paneling and cabinetry, stained glass, fireplaces etc. that none of the other houses on the block had. All of that improvement was because the work was done for free by construction companies. And that was because the previous owner was a city councilman.
To: firebrand
Let's just say that because of the fact that he was "in" with the Essex County Democrats (he was once sanitation commissioner), my great-grandfather never had any labor problems (even when he hired blacks). :-)

My name ends in a consonent, my father being Polish. Ma's maiden name ends in a solid vowel ("i"), being a Napolitana from Jersey City. I'm Italian where it counts!

Very intriguing. Thanks. You might want to remove Alexander Hamilton from the natives list since he was not one. He did attend school in Elizabethtown though for a couple of years and would have attended Princeton had it agreed to allow him to procede at his own pace. And he was shot there (as many have been since) but he was not a native.

Is there pizza outside of Chicago? I mean any good pizza?
To: Young Werther
But now Rutgers seems to be going in the right direction with its football team. If it could just keep the NJ talent it would be top flight since so much talent goes to other schools like Iowa, Michigan, Nebraska etc.
