DU Thread - I would love to go to Canada but it seems we may be too old by the time we are able to leave in about two years. I am also considering Costa Rica, Panama and Mexico but any civilized non-fascist country will do. Please, any suggestions, help and/or links are greatly appreciated.
I am hoping for no "stay and fight" or "coward" responses. I have two young boys who deserve to have a real future. That is not going to happen in this country.
I like Somalia a lot, but it's been posted - so I'll add Haiti.

I was hoping to be the first...
HAITI is home to some of the wealthiest people in the Caribbean. Enclaves are pristine and safe. Living in the mountains above Port au Prince offers an idyllic life, resembling the lifestyle of old Europe.
The politics are decidedly anarchic. Take lots of cash. It is extremely expensive.
Take him to....Detroit!
Cuba aint that great for even the wealthiest of Americans. Ask Robert Vesco about that.
Kentucky Life travels to Brazil to meet "Confederado" expatriate Americans
EXCERPT:
At the end of the Civil War, ex-Confederate Southerners left the United States in what has been called our nation's largest exodus of citizens. Kentucky Life tells the story of the "Confederados" through the family history of a returned Confederado with Appalachian roots. ..... During the late 1860s, between two and four thousand migrants from the U.S. South--a significant portion of the approximately 10,000 ex-Confederates believed to have left in that period--arrived in Brazil. They gradually relocated toward a settlement referred to now as Americana, in Sao Paulo. ......
Bosnia is nice if you can take the winters.
Try the Bronx.
Actually, Panama is a nice country. Dollarized economy, large financial services industry, great condos and nightlife, lovely women, etc. Used to go down there once a month for work.
The Malvinas ARE part of Argentina. Jeanne Kirpatrick was right on that one (but Reagan overrulled her).
And a health care system that is superior to the United States. Michael Moore told me so :-)
*smacking head* I forgot to mention the healthcare! I guess I will be tortured now. Fidel doesn't like screw ups. ;*)
No! Haven't the Iraqs suffered enough without sending DUers there. Let them enjoy their freedom!
Bahrain's too good for them. Or rather, it used to be. It has changed since I lived there.
Noooooo; he is one of your own; you foolish person; and he will welcome you and your sons.
( I do wish more of these people WOULD leave. . .so that MY children will have a better life. . .and will for sure, if they do pack it up. . .)
We are a most fortunate country but Liberals and their Liberalism have defintiely given America more than a turn or two. . .for the worse.
Surely, the log in their eye. . .albeit it seems sized more like aged California cypress; prevents them from seeing their own truth.
"Yeah, sh-t hospitals, crumbling infrastructure, terrible service."
Let's be fair. You can find all of that in Trenton also.
I am not planning on moving to Cuba and was actually joking. Cuba does have some nice things about it though, especially if you are a tourist with money. I wouldn't want to be one of the pessants though. My bet is that it will be a tourist resort in another 30 years tops once the commies fall.
Robert Vesco was a crook, wasn't he. I don't blame the Cubans for locking him up.
A flash and a bang maybe?
Cuba is a sh-thole except for the beaches. The commies RUINED what was once the most prosperous society in Latin America. Most of the productive Cubans left in the 1960s for America and Spain. All that is left are the dregs. The society is f-cked up, the infrastructure is PATHETIC (even Port Au Prince is better!), and any person who could honestly say it "isn't that bad" is probably a friend of Fidel.
CUBA LIBRE!
It's kinda sad in a way, waiting in Mom's basement for Cheney's SS troops to break down the door is no way to go through life. OTOH, I think DUmmies actually love wallowing in self pity and misery so maybe it isn't sad at all. If they like it so much I hope the voters give them a lot more to weep and wail about this November.
"If you are comparing Havana to Trenton, remember that 1. Havana has better looking women and 2. Even the public hospital in Trenton is like Sloan Kettering compared to any hospital in Cuba.

I agree with almost everything you say. I didn't say "Cuba isn't all that bad," I believe I said Cuba has some good points and you named them yourself. If you read my post you will see that I wrote that it will be a top resort in 30 years after the commies fall. It is a beautiful country, with beautiful people, and a crap system of government run by a dictatorship. I think you are assigning me a position I do not hold.
Port Au Prince and Haiti in general is a lot more screwed up than Cuba though. That was the one place you lost me. Haiti makes Cuba look like Bermuda.
