Hundreds of pieces of Elvis Presley memorabilia were auctioned off over the weekend by a longtime collector trying to win back his girlfriend after she warned: "You leave the Elvis clothes or I'll leave you."

without a picture I cant tell you if its worth it
Bad decision. If Elvis is what he likes, then the girl should learn to accept it or leave.
Good riddance.
The King is gone, but he's not forgotten.
I know there are compromises. I have been with my girl five years now and lived in the same house for two years now. She knew when she met me that I drink way too much beer and I spend unhealthy amounts of time in my shop working and riding my motorcycles. That is me. She knows that and should not have gotten involved if she didn't like it. In the same token, I don't change anything she does.
I told her years ago that I will go to any length to do something she asks me to do. But I will fight tooth and nail NOT to do something she TELLS me to do.
There are some interests that are integral to who we are. And this Elvis dude may or may not be one of them. The fact that his collection has made him a rich man might take some of the sting out of becoming a 'former Elvis collector'.
Or not... we'll see.
PRIORITIES, man, priorities.
It's true 1 should try to understand what 1 is getting into, and decide rightly if 1 can live w/it (or expect a modest change).
However, there are things that are just plain silly and obsessive - and that's not a good sign of character to most people, either. If you have to have tons of hats on every inch around a wall (and the worst kind - baseball hats), that's CHILDISH. If you can't cut back on what you do or how you display them, or how many you blow money on, that's just childish and it shows your priorities maybe are not right or cannot be adjusted. You know, little things like children might get in the way.
It's a fine line - I'm a bit obsessed w/racing items, and my husband w/Steelers - but 1 has to know 1's limitations. You cannot simply say "no man should ever change for a woman". Maybe he's not a MAN but a BOY. Maybe he SHOULD change, if only a bit. And don't act as if women never change. Maybe they just do so quietly. ;-)
"""If you can't cut back on what you do or how you display them, or how many you blow money on, that's just childish and it shows your priorities maybe are not right"""
I agree with what you say completely. But my point is, if she thinks he is childish for having so many hats, she should never have gotten involved with him, thinking that he would change. or having a plan to change him.
Immature was exactly what it was. What's great in college stops making sense when you finish growing up. When I was in college, my room was decorated in stolen road signs and stolen milk crate shelving. That was great then, but sooner or later tastes mature, or we'd all still have our teenage posters on the walls. He realized that, but too late to save his first attempt at marriage.
Collections and interests are fun, and don't even cause conflict if they are reasonable, or even better, shared.
HOTTIEBOY, one could assume that relationships with you are about a power struggle and decisions are viewed as victories or defeats. I've been in relationships like that and I find them exhausting. Sometimes it's not about your man-hood, it's just about whether hats make good decor.
Yes, maybe if he truly displayed way too many hats, she should've been smarter and said "I can't deal w/this". Because there IS a limit - if someone's that obsessive, they're likely not to get over it. A little obsessive - either no big deal or can tone it down a bit.
I'm betting both these people were 22 or so when they got married. Immaturity shows in both people.
Maybe she isn't worth it. But you need to realize that Elvis IS dead. Maybe he should take the money and run.
Some say Elvis is dead, but all know he makes more money per year than 99.9% of anyone else in the entertainment biz.
Some hang on to teenage rebellion a little too long :~D
Unfortunately, the woman in question is Lisa Lynnette Clark.
Now on Fox: Woman 37 says her 15 year old lover took advantage of her!
