w00t! TGIF! A much better week than last but none-the-less, it's Friday and time for a little unwinding before the weekend. Speaking of which, if you're in central TX and have no compassion for your taste-buds, join me at the Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival on Sunday.

Also, the oldest fort in the US, Fort Monroe in Hampton, VA is closing. Fortifications at that site date back to the 1600's. The present fort dates back to 1819. Seems it could be made into a state park.
I HATE people who build up to an airport right-of-way and then complain about airplane noise. That is just so f'n wrong.

My commute is 25 miles and 45 minutes on an average day.
But its always been that,
no matter where I've lived.

I don't know. They're talking about how many millions it will take to clean up all the unexploded ordinance there. I hope it gets turned over to the National Park Service.

Interestingly, Eileson AFB over by Fairbanks was on the BRAC list and Galena wasn't. Some city council people at Fairbanks asked the BRAC commission visitors how come Eielson is closing and Galena was staying.
Galena was under the radar to Washington until some people unmasked us. The town only has a population of 500 people so there is no voting base to influence people.
Thanks to Fairbanks, we got screwed earlier than planned.
Oh well. Get me to May 2006! :-)

I hope the NPS takes over Fort Monroe. There isn't any "hazardous" issues at all. The inspectors that were there metal detected the entire area, 90% of the items found were discarded "pop" tops and soda cans
